So many people believe that once you do enough crunches and abdominal exercises, you will get those visible abs in no time. But that is not the case. Since the muscle has no link whatsoever to the layer of fat hiding it. Even if you have the strongest abs, it will never become visible once there is a layer of fat covering.

4. Only take drinks that are calories free such as water, green tea, diet pop, etc. (drink at least 5 litres of water daily).
After taking care of the diet basics, you then move to the strength training basics.
1. Make sure you engage in resistance training weekly.
2. Include joint lower body weight training programs such as squats, deadlifts and lunges.
3. Include joint upper body programs such as pushups, overhead presses and rows.
Following the basics will only help you have a good body shape and a flat stomach. The next thing to do is to move on to the advanced level.
You will have to track your progress to know when the basic tips stop working. To track your progress it will be better if you have access to a fat body tester and if you do not, you can weigh yourself and check you waist line every week. This will help you determine when you have to move on to the advanced level.

Pictures of great abs are everywhere. It can be a little disheartening to those of us who have tried every workout angle, spent hours at the gym, and tried all kinds of diets. The truth is, a great set of abs is not out of reach...they are right there, under that baggy T-shirt.
In order to do anything right, you must have a goal. So, if your goal is to have washboard abs, spend a little time thinking about what rational steps you will need to take to achieve that goal. In fact, it may be helpful to write your goal on paper and even set a reasonable timeline for yourself. Here are some guidelines. Be sure to personalize these steps, and you will be well on your way to the abs of your dreams.
Define your goal in plain English. For example: "I want to be able to see my abs in three months" or "I want to lose two pants sizes in three months". Be sure that your goals are reasonable and attainable. If you are very out of shape or have a lot of weight to lose it may help you to break your goals down into recognizable steps or milestones.
Some people find it helpful to define their goals in terms of exercise. An example of this is: "I will do cardio five days a week and work each muscle group, including my abs, three times per week." Some break it down into smaller steps - for instance: "I will walk the first week and focus on my posture. The second week, I will add crunches three days per week."
Another set of goals that can help with your overall mindset involve planning your food intake. One of the biggest obstacles that we face is diet. Some people diet too strictly and cause damage to their bodies. Others throw caution to the wind and eat everything in sight, which greatly reduces the effectiveness of workouts, especially those targeted toward revealing beautiful muscle tone.
Many people find it helpful to use mini goals with dietary changes as well. One great way to be mindful of calorie intake and expenditure is to keep a food and exercise journal. It is hard to lie to yourself if the truth is there in black and white, in your own handwriting. If you do this, be sure to log everything. Many dieters who use a food journal find success by simply logging everything they eat for an entire week and then running the numbers. Often the shock is enough to cause them to make the changes necessary for success.
If it all seems like too much to do alone, consider becoming involved with a structured program that combines diet and exercise in a positive way.
