Here are some more information for Air High:

You're convinced. You've done your research. You've consulted the air quality experts. You know that HEPA quality air purifiers are exactly what you need. You're ready to whip out that credit card and pounce on the best HEPA air purifier deal you can find.
But hold on there! HEPA may be the best game in town but are all HEPA air purifiers created equal? Not by a long shot! You need to know when HEPA filters don't equal HEPA performance.
What's Wrong Here? Quality Issues That Stifle Your Air Purifier Performance
By this point in your research you know that HEPA filtration removes close to 99.99% of particles in any size range. It's lowest performance is a 99.97% efficiency at 0.3 micron particles. But that's theoretical efficiency. What about the real world? What about actual performance? What factors rob you of the cleanest possible air?
Would you believe that some air purifiers are intentionally designed to be less efficient? Why? Because they're cheap, that's why!
Yes, Good ol' deep discount, cheap air purifiers. They have to be less efficient. One of the most expensive components in high quality air purifiers is the motor. Cut the cost of the motor and you cut the cost of the air purifier.
But a cheap motor can't work continuously against the back pressure of a HEPA filter. It overheats. It wears out, burns out and dies. So, what to do? Manufacturers design air bypassing into the machine. The pressure is relieved and bypassing air can be used to cool the cheap motor.
Unfortunately you lose air cleaning efficiency.
Cost Cutting the HEPA Filter
High quality air purifiers use high quality HEPA filters. How do you know how your air purifier compares? Simple. Manufacturers are always happy to toot their own horn. So listen to the tune they're playing.
Manufacturers using cut rate HEPA filters will most likely be silent about essential quality issues or else mumble incoherent nonsense.
What are the essential quality issues for HEPA filters?
First, size matters. The bigger the better. Larger surface area HEPA filters remove more particulates before becoming clogged, thus lasting longer. They can also pass a higher volume of air, removing more particulates with each pass.
Second, the quality of the HEPA filter material and construction are critical. Pleats should be uniform and maintained in place with spacers. Unevenly spaced pleats restrict air flow.
The best material for HEPA filters is thin paper but this is delicate and can be easily damaged by the pleating process or during installation into the air purifier. High quality air purifiers often feature HEPA filters that have been pleated by a process called "warm rolling". This prevents efficiency robbing cracks from developing in the pleats.
Better quality air purifiers also house the filters in such a way as to prevent damage.
All such quality features are proudly announced by the manufacturers that employ them. Reputable merchants that truly understand air purification will also make certain you know you're buying quality. Better still, the merchants most dedicated to your satisfaction won't sell anything but air purifiers that truly perform as expected.
A Few Examples of Top Quality Air Purifiers
I personally own an air purifier by Allerair. They fully address the issues raised above. Another very good choice is IQAir. They actually individually test and certify each air purifier they build for total system efficiency. You get the certifying document so you know exactly how well your personal air purifier performs.
I also like NQ Clarifier, Austin Air and a recently arrived Korean brand, Airgle. AllergyBuyersClub.com and achoo!Allergy.com feature these air purifiers and others of comparable quality. Check them out before you buy another air purifier. You'll be glad you did.

High Pressure Air-knives Vs. Compressed Air Blowoff Systems
Canadian Air Systems Co. is a well known designer and manufacturer of industrial blow-off air-knife systems.
Many industrial manufacrurers that traditionally were using compressed air for their blow-off needs realize the problem stemmed from their use of compressed air. Employees using compressed air guns were unable to completely blow off cleaner / phosphate solution from steel parts surface as they emerge at high speed from industrial washer. Moreover, the cost to make the compressed air is excessive. Compressed air may be the most expensive product a plant can make using electricity; so that using of compressed air for blow-off applications is considered by many industrial users as "just one huge air leak".
Another common problem at industrial plants is lack of space to establish a normal drying line, forcing them to look for a blowoff method that could be installed in an absolute minimum of space.
Canadian Air Systems Co. has developed an universal blow-off air-knife system that includes a super high pressure single stage centrifugal pressure blower ans a system of tube-type slot air knives, that completely replaces traditional compressed air blowoff systems, and save money due to much higher operating efficiency. A flexible PVC pipe is sued to feed Air Knives from the outlet og high pressure blower. Adjustble slot opening at each air-knife enables to regulate the air velocity and volume, as well as "focus" air blow off system on a certain distance from a flat surface that has to be dryed. If necessary an additional air damper at the blower can be added fro more flexibility. An inlet blower Filter helps to eleiminate any dust and solid particles inside the blower and air knives. Typical air velocity at the exit from Air Knife reaches 30,000 - 40,000 feet per minute, that provides efficient flowoff effect even with relatively high-speed conveyor lines.
A specially designed support system for Air Knives also allows for directional adjustment of the air flow around moving parts. With this elaborated air adjustment system it is easy for an employee to re-direct blow-off air to handle whatever industrial process configuration is being run at any given time.
An added bonus is that Canadian Air Systems AirKnife System lets its customers free up at least 80% of an employee's time. For manufacturers running two or three shifts a day, those man-hour savings add up to substantial cost savings.
The maintenance of the system is minimal, it consists of air filter replacing ones in few months... it takes may be ten minutes... that's all the regular maintenance that the blowoff system requires.
Standard material of Air-Knife construction includes a mild steel blower and aluminum air-knife body with steel powder coated or stainless steel support columns. But some tough industrial applications might necessiate using of stainless steel air knives or stainless blowers, that are available from Canadian Air Systems too; as well as inline De-Ionizing accessory
Canadian Air Systems Co. is a world's leading designer and manufacturer of high-penetration air-knives for a variety of industrial process applications:
* Liquids Blow-Off Devices
* Fast Air Cooling
* Conveyor Belt Cleaning
* Process Air Curtains
* Conveyor Dryers
for a number of industries and applications:
- automotive parts production;
- beverage bottles conveyor drying;
- plastic industry;
- glass manufacturing blow off and cooling;
- pallets cleaning;
- industrial air-curtains for fume separation .
Air knives are available in extruded aluminum, welded steel, stainless steel, plastic construction; lengths from 12" to 144"; air velocities up to 40,000 Ft/min; adjustable slot opening, flexible support structures; precise focusing systems.
For special applications Canadian Air Systems offer air canons and air nozzles to achieve turbulent high velocity air flow.

How does high and low air pressure work?
I live near the sea and was told that if we get a low pressure and a high tide we could be flooded, I would like to know how the air pressure affects the tides.
The low pressure means that the atmosphere is pressing on the sea less than usual. For every millibar that the atmospheric pressure falls, sea level rises by around 1cm. That means that if there is a serious low with a pressure of around 960 millibars then sealevels could rise by around 1/2 metre.
Low pressure also affects sea level by blowing more water onshore. This, along with the bulge in sea level due to the low pressure creates something called a storm surge. This is what caused the flooding in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina - seriously low pressure led to the sea level bulging upwards and the strong winds piled the water up shorewards.
I'm guessing you might be east coast UK because they have just recently had very large tides. In the UK we thankfully don't get hurricanes meaning that storm surges are usually ok as they don't co-incide with high tide. However if you get a storm surge co-incide with high tide then it results in sea levels being much higher than they would normally be and coastal flooding.
The best example of this was 1953 when a deep depression caused a storm surge along the east coast and combined with a high tide. In the UK 307 people died, and in the Netherlands 1800. That scale of tragedy in the UK is unlikely now because of excellent forecasting, good communication etc, but the possibility for severe flooding still exists which was why the warnings were issued for the high tides over the past couple of months.
There's a whole load of more info on the 1953 flood and storm surges on the link below.
