As one of the largest manufacturers of plasma cutting, tig/stick, arc welding equipment in the world, Lotos Technology is proud to offer an extensive selection of industrial plasma cutting and tig/stick welding machine with the CT520D. Lotos CT520D is a THREE-IN-ONE Digital Inverter Plasma Cutter (50A) / Tig Welder (200A) / Stick (MMA) welder (180A). You would have to purchase 3 separate machines to do what this ONE machine can do! Using this portable plasma cutter is cheaper than Oxyacetylene after just a few cuts. Less cleaning, less maintenance, less noxious gases, less hazards, simply less overall work and a better, cleaner cut. The torch trigger can be moved for a custom fit. It can be used in finger or thumb positions. The torch head is adjustable for tight spaces. High Frequency DC Plasma cuts thicker materials than standard DC plasma cutters. High Frequency Plasma cut faster with less distortion in the work piece. The Tig welder from this CT520D is clean and strong. This Tig welder is easier to use than any other Tig welder on the planet! An ARC (Stick) welder is a necessity in any industrial shop or home workshop. There are welding jobs that simply require ARC or SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding). With arc welding, no shielding gas is required. Stick welding is cheap and effective: fill the large gaps and holes, weld the cast iron and weld the extra thick steel with the stick. For this Lotos 2011 latest model, we add the aluminum stick welding feature. It is patent pending. Here are some more information for Arc Welder:

They say that Mig welding is the easiest kind of arc welding to learn. I dont know who "they" is, but I would like to have a word with them.
Mig welding is easy enough to learn how to squirt down a cold bead, but it is also very easy to make a weak weld that is not really penetrated if you are not careful.
These 4 mig welding tips will help you weld better and keep you from squirting down and cold bead :
- Make sure you have a good solid ground connection. Who makes these cheap ground clamps they are putting on mig welding machines these days anyway? Copper jaws people! We need copper jaws! Are you listening Lincoln, Hobart and Esab, and Miller?
- KYSS! Keep your Stickout Short. A long stickout softens up the arc and makes for a wimpy arc force. Shorten up your stickout and watch your welding mig welding improve dramatically. ( I swear by this one)
- Don't fear the wire feed. A common misperception is to turn the wire feed speed down to avoid a crowned up bead. Negatory, good buddy. It is a combination of voltage and wire feed speed that makes amperage. Of course, having enough voltage is important too but if your wire feed speed is too low, the metal transfer is inefficient. And you get spatter too.
- 115 volt mig machines are great for sheet metal and some of them, like the Hobart Handler 140 will even weld up 1/4" thick metal. But please, please don't weld a trailer hitch on with a 115 volt mig welder. You need a 230 volt mig machine for critical welds. If you cant afford one, think about using an old school arc welder. It is much more reliable than a 115 volt mig welder for thick metal.
- Get an auto darkening welding helmet. Getting a good start with a mig gun is hard enough. Moving a half inch off target while you nod your welding helmet down does not help. With an auto darkening helmet, you will be able to see exactly where the arc is going to start...and believe me, that is a big deal.
I used to go to a Chiropractor who told me a story about seeing a bunch of x rays of peoples necks. "Man, those necks are jacked up" He thought to himself. Then the college professor told the class they were looking at x rays of welders necks with arthritis and bone spurs from years of helmet nodding. I can relate. My neck aint feelin so hot these days. I don't nod anymore because I own about 4 auto darkening helmets. The latest one I bought is a cheap lightweight helmet from Northern with really cool flames.

The Art of Arc Welding
Welding is used as a fabrication process in every small and large-scale industry. This is an efficient, economical and dependable process of joining two or more parts of metal. The process finds its applications in open air, underwater and outer space.
Among the welding processes, arc welding is widely used mainly because of its low capital and running costs. Arc welding is the fusion of two pieces of metal by an electric arc between the pieces being joined – the work pieces – and an electrode that is guided along the joint between the pieces.
The four types of arc welding are shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, flux-cored arc welding, and submerged arc welding.
Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) also known as manual metal arc (MMA) or stick welding, is the most popular among the arc welding processes primarily because of the versatility of the process and the simplicity of its equipment and operation. This process is preferred for repair work and construction applications as this requires minimum operator training and inexpensive equipment, albeit slower weld times.
On the other hand, Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) is a high-speed but less versatile welding process. It is a semi-automatic or automatic welding process that uses a continuous wire feed as an electrode and an inert or semi-inert shielding gas to protect the weld from contamination. Given its speed and versatility, GMAW is popular in the automobile industry.
Similarly, flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) uses the same equipment as the GMAW except that it employs wire consisting of a steel electrode tube surrounding a powder fill material. This cored wire is more expensive compared to the standard solid wire and generates extra shielding gas and/or slag, however, it permits higher welding speed and greater metal penetration.
Submerged arc welding (SAW) is a high-productivity welding method in which the arc is struck beneath a covering layer of flux. Because contaminants in the atmosphere are blocked by the flux, this process increases arc quality.
Arc welding is a safe process when proper precautions and operating procedures are strictly followed. Employing new technology and protection measures will greatly reduce its potential hazards.
Several institutions are offering various welding trainings to cater to the heightened demand for arc welders or welding engineers for a wide range of applications in different industries like engineering, construction and tourism all over the world.

How do I adapt a 220 volt input arc welder to my Chevy 4.8 ltr engine.?
My truck is completely stock and I need to know every step I need to take to install this portable arc welder onto my truck. It is a Chicago brand arc welder. I need to put it in my truck for offroad repairs on long trails.
you will need a transformer, you can find one by searching transformers on Yahoo! Its very easy the transformer will charg off your alternator, and when it is saturated with power it will convert the lower DC power to the higher AC you need. finding the tranformer you need will be the hard part! Hooking it up to your truck will be very straight forward and easy! The trasformer will come with wiring diagrams and everything you need to hook it up and start using!
