"The Greatest Generation" won WWII, created the Marshall Plan, and rebuilt US industry.
"The Great Boom Generation" were those who between 1950-2000 created the richest society in world history.
Today, we must become "The Heroic Generation" to save the planet and change the world.
By definition a hero is courageous, JFK called courage the greatest of all virtues. Our word for courage comes from the French word 'coeur' or heart. Courage is that dauntless quality of heart that allows one to face danger and hardship head-on with bravery, fortitude, pluck, gallantry, valor, mettle, nerve, valiance.
With the Climate Crisis we face our greatest threat ever with time running out before the situation is irreversible. We need heroic leaders who can galvanize people to act, as FDR did in WWII, and as JFK did when he set a timeframe for the US to land a man on the moon even before the technology existed to do so.
And beyond heroic leaders we need a populace of awakened, inspire individuals like, Joan of Arc, because that's the level of heroism that our crisis demands, which parallels the odds that Joan of Arc faced, too:
In April 1429 The Hundred Year war waged on. The people of France lived in darkest despair under the overwhelming weight of England's occupying force. With their beloved nation dying the French King and aristocracy accepted the country's fall. Then an uneducated, 17-year old country girl who never rode a horse, held a weapon, or left her village--came out of nowhere and convinced the King to equip her with an army.
Fearless Joan of Arc, without any previous military knowledge, and fiercely emboldened by a heroic spirit alone, led her troops to victory even after being shot through by an arrow. She rescued France from an invading monolith-- accomplishing what no general in history ever did.
And though her public life lasted for only one year she was canonized as a Saint for miracles. American writer, Mark Twain, declared her the most outstanding person that ever lived. The entire world would have became a much different place without Joan of Arc, for one there'd have been no 18th century French Enlightenment on which America was based.
The Power of Heroic Hearts:
Our spirits can be beaten down or supernova bright. Spirit creates life, and can overnight transform life. Today, when our planet needs to be saved we each have an opportunity to become activist and help turn the world from darkness to light and a new Golden Age of peace and prosperity.
I believe that Senator Barack Obama is the person for the time because of his ability to communicate a vision, and inspire people to act, and he had one of the highest environmental voting records in the Illinois State Senate too.
But as JFK said in his inaugural address, "In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than in mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to...struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself. Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance...that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort?
"In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility-I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it-and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you-ask what you can do for your country."
It is time for all of us to take up the torch and lead the way to the Heroic Generation and to a brighter world. Yes we can!

The Effects of Opium
Opium is a narcotic formed from the latex released by lacerating the immature seed pods of opium poppies. It contains up to 12% morphine, an opiate alkaloid, which is most frequently processed chemically to produce heroin for the illegal drug trade. The resin also includes codeine and non-narcotic alkaloids, such as papaverine, thebaine and noscapine.
At the moment the word “opium” may not strike as much fear in the hearts of concerned parents – after all, opium as a drug is no longer mentioned much in the context of modern drug addiction. This does not mean, however, that opium no longer exists as a recreational drug. Opium dens may no longer exist they way they did during the Victorian era, but opium itself is still used to manufacture powerful, more addictive recreational drugs. And opium effects remain essentially the same throughout the years, no matter what happens.
Opium effects generally last for four hours, though they may last longer or shorter depending on the circumstances. Included in the list of opium effects are feelings of numbness (you can’t feel pain or stress), a strange sense of euphoria and emotional detachment from events and other people, loss of appetite, and drowsiness. Of course, the more harmful opium effects happen to be vomiting, increased urination and sweating (which lead to dehydration if ignored), impaired vision, loss of conscious focus and, most alarmingly, death.
This domain is dedicated to educating you about opium and different opium effects. In this section of the site, we will be including extensive descriptions of opium effects for your added knowledge.
