Mini-Gear Oil Pump 110v 450w 1/2 HP 8 gpm WCB30 WVO Fuel Transfer biodiesel WMO Sale Price: $285.00 |
|
Mini-Gear Oil Pump All Metal Pump This pump may be used for pumping oily liquids such as diesel, biodiesel or kerosene. It can pump vegetable oil with a continuous duty cycle if the oil is not too thick. Generally speaking, vegetable oil will need to be around 75° F or higher, depending on how thick it is for this pump to maintain a continuous duty cycle. This pump works excellent for biodiesel processor applications. It is not recommended for pumping heavy oils such as motor oil as the duty cycle is greatly reduced. The mini-gear pump is a pump attached to the motor by a shaft. The pump itself is all metal (metal gears) and can pump hot fluids without overheating the detached motor. The motor is high power and has thermal protection, which will automatically shut off the pump in case of the risk of overheating. These pumps create powerful suction and are self-priming. They can run dry for intermediate amounts of time, allowing for the use of a suction hose for collecting fluids from a tank. These pumps are so powertful they will actually pull and push air through the hose. The metal gears which drive the pumping action can handle a lot of fluids, even if partially dirty. In the case of vegetable oil, any soft particles will pass right through the pump wilth no problems, and are often pulverised by the gears themselves. Hard materials, such as metals, should not be allowed to pass through the pump to prevent damage. |

Here are some more information for Biodiesel Svo:

What is Biodiesel?
Biodiesel is the general term given to processed fuel derived from natural resources, SVO (straight vegetable oil), WVO (waste vegetable oil) and animal fats which could be used as a direct substitute for diesel fuel with minimal engine modification using conversion kits.
Why use Biodiesel?
The primary driving force for the use of biodiesel is the high price of petrol products that include diesel fuel. As the prices of petrol diesel goes up, the price of homemade biodiesel becomes more competitive with some added environmental advantage.
Second, as an alternative fuel, it is renewable, which can be grown and produced from our own backyard and recycled from wastes. Since biodiesel is derived from recycled oil from restaurant or from fresh vegetable oil and animal fats, there's no worrying for how long will the supply last. As long as there is land to grow the crops and plants which played as the major source of oil for biodiesel raw material. There are several crops (soybean, rapeseed, mustard, jathropa palm oil and algae) which could be used as source for biodiesel.
Third, it is biodegradable non-toxic, the and produces fewer emmisions as compared to petroleum based diesel. Biodiesel is made from nature thus its by product is pro-nature. Most biodiesel users commented that their emissions smells like fried fries.
How to use Biodiesel?
Biodiesel can be used as a direct substitute for petrol-diesel without any modification on the existing engines. But companies are manufacturing Biodiesel conversion kits which claims to improve the performance and at the same time protect the engine from damage.
The current practice for the use of biodiesel is as an additive. They are using B20 or 20% biodiesel mixed with 80% petrol diesel. The practice is based on the fact that biodiesel has lubricating properties which improves overall engine performance, improved milage and fewer hazardous and toxic emissions.

Biodiesel and Its Impact on the Environment
Biodiesel has been getting its share of interest among people in the search for alternative fuels. The cost of oils has been steadily going up in the worldwide market and many think it is time to find alternative sources to tone down in some way the rising costs of using gas and other petroleum-derived fuels. One of the alternatives found to have promise is the production of biodiesel.
Biodiesel refers to a type of processed fuel that can be derived from biological sources. It can be readily used in diesel engine vehicles. This distinguishes it from the use of straight vegetable oils (SVO) or waste vegetable oils (WVO) as the chosen alternative which requires vehicles to have modified diesel engines installed in order to make use of such fuels.
What makes biodiesel also an ideal alternative is that it is biodegradable and non-toxic. Biodiesel also provides considerably fewer combustion emissions when compared to petroleum-based diesel fuel.
Since biodiesel can readily be used in current diesel engines without having to modify them, it has the potential to supplement the use of petroleum-based fuels as a primary energy source to fill up the need of the world's transportation sector. And not only that, biodiesel holds the promise of being used as a cheaper alternative heating fuel for domestic and commercial boilers.
Biodiesel can be used in its pure form or it may also be blended with petroleum diesel. It provides a number of advantages and benefits with its use. One of biodiesel's better properties is its high lubricity index. Higher than that of pure petrodiesel, this excellent lubricating property of biodiesel can greatly contribute to lengthening the life of an engine's fuel injector.
Biodiesel is also a better solvent than conventional diesel and has been shown to break down residue deposits in fuel lines that have previously been using conventional diesel products. That's why fuel filters becoming clogged with residue particles as the biodiesel does its work of cleaning the engine has become so common. A change of filter after running 600-800 miles on biodiesel is recommended to solve this problem.
There are subsequent environmental benefits when choosing to use biodiesel over conventional petroleum based diesel. Biodiesel use results in a significantly reduced emission of carbon monoxide. Biodiesel also contains fewer hydrocarbons and can reduce tailpipe particle emissions by as much as 20 percent.
Biodiesel also has low sulfur content without compromising its natural viscosity and lubricating properties which is usually the case when using ultra-low sulfur petrodiesel varieties. It's also biodegradable and non-toxic, which makes it a more environmentally friendly alternative.
It is being suggested by many biodiesel advocates that excess or waste vegetable oil can be the best source of oil to produce this alternative fuel. But the current available supply is unfortunately lesser than the amount of petroleum-based fuel that is burned for transportation and home heating all over the world. Gallons upon gallons of waste vegetable oil are produced by US restaurants every day.
But this may not be enough to satisfy the need for more and more fuel. Producing biodiesel from animal fats may not be feasible enough to replace petrodiesel just yet because of its limited supply. However, research is underway to find ways and to develop systems which could make biodiesel more available and help answer the growing needs of alternative fuel.

Vegetable oil as Diesel fuel? (not biodiesel)?
I'm not talking about Biodiesel or Waste Vegetable Oil. I'm talking about Straight Vegetable oil, or Pure Plant Oil. Its the same stuff the restaraunts buy to cook with, but you buy it yourself before they foul it up. 50 cents a gallon is typical, and it will run in any diesel once its warmed up (requires a two tank system with regular #2 diesel for cold starting.) I researched WVO (waste vegetable oil) use and it can be damaging if not filtered well. Biodiesel costs the same as diesel in my area(phoenix AZ). Thats why SVO (Straight Vegetable oil) is a better choice. Has anyone actually done this? Not theoretically, but actually, can this really be done and is it cost
effective for a company with a 5 truck home service fleet? We spend $6000 per month on fuel so this cheap fuel thing sounds to good to be true.
Yes! The JR Simplot Company in Idaho ran a some diesel semis on pure vegetable oil back in the 90's!
Well maybe not pure but.... read the url below
