It was only a couple of years ago when consumers were exposed to 5.0 megapixels from a stand alone digital camera, but today this technology is making its way into the mobile phones market and much to the delight of both photography enthusiasts as well as keen gadget lovers.

This new model is the Sony Ericsson K850i, a 3G enabled handset that also incorporates the manufacturers Cyber-Shot photographic technology.
The 5.0 megapixel camera is complimented with a Xenon Flash which is brighter than the standard LED flashes used by other models, it also features auto focus for quick and easy photo capture by pressing a single dedicated button.
The camera also offers a new feature not seen on any Sony Ericsson models before, an automatic lens cover that will self close to protect the lens whilst not in use, plus there is also an auto rotation feature that adjusts the picture automatically according to which way up the handset is being held for capturing both landscape and portrait pictures.
Aside from the superb camera, the K850i is also a 3G enabled mobile phone allowing for fast connections to the mobile internet and 'broadband like' download speeds.
Sony Ericsson have integrated a second camera into the handset to utilise 3G video calling whereas users can actually see who it is they are talking with on the screen of their phone.
3G technology also opens up a whole new world of entertainment and information, users can keep up to date with the latest news and sports headlines, watch new movie trailers, listen to new music tracks before they are released and get regular, localised weather reports for their area. With this technology the handset can also download new mobile content at extremely fast speeds such as new ringtones, games, wallpapers, themes and new music tracks.
The K850i also features an MP3 player that can be filled with music either by uploading from a PC using a MicroUSB cable or downloaded directly from the mobile internet before being organised into playlists to suit genre or the users mood.
Staying with the music theme, the K850i also offers TrackID Music Recognition software, this useful tool means that a user can simply record a little clip of music from anywhere, the pub, night club, from the radio or at a concert, the clip is then sent via SMS to a central database and almost instantly a message is sent back to the handset outlining the name of the artist and track.
The new Sony Ericsson K850i is serious competition to the other two high specification camera phones, by offering the extra technology and onboard features it may well be the phone of choice.
