Here are some more information for Brown Welding:

Because of its complex nature and vital importance to automobile performance, a transmission must be inspected regularly to ensure proper functioning. When your transmission fails, your car fails and service can easily become expensive. Owners of import vehicles have the extra burden of confirming proper service in an automotive service world which can be overwhelming. However, any vehicle owner can follow a number of steps to extend the life of their transmission and continue driving with optimal performance. Regular service and checking for the warning signs of transmission failure can prevent full transmission overhauls or transmission rebuilds.
To begin with, any vehicle owner should follow the transmission service guidelines stated in their owner's manual. This issue is particularly important for import owners for each company has their own guidelines, some of which are unorthodox and overlooked by traditional transmission shops specializing in domestic makes. The components of any transmission can become clogged with normal activity while transmission fluid can become bad from heat and friction. Consequently, make sure you have regular service and inspections performed on your transmission, per make and model guidelines, which is the first line in defense against dreaded transmission overhauls.
Other than following manufacture's guidelines, it's imperative that any vehicle owner recognize the warning signs of a failing transmission. One of the most tell-tale signs involves excessive engine noise. If there are unusual noises when shifting and accelerating or, more critically, the engine sounds as if it is running and yet your car or truck doesn't move, then chances are there is a serious problem that may lead to a necessary transmission rebuild. Other signs include difficulty in reversing, chronic overheating, and fluid leaks. Like other car and truck related services, it is imperative you seek professional examination immediately as the longer you wait, and the more you drive, the more expensive the problem will be. With time, a simple repair can become a full transmission rebuild if not taken care of appropriately.
Import owners particularly should regularly check their transmission fluid. It's best to check such fluid after moderate use of the vehicle, such as after a weekend drive. Pop the hood, locate the transmission fluid dipstick, and check for color and proper fill level. Cloudy or brown color fluid indicates the need for a filter change or a transmission flush as does burnt or varnished particles. If, unfortunately, you spot a leak, you will be able to determine if it's coming from the transmission by the fluid's reddish consistency. It's important to treat a transmission leak immediately as low amounts of transmission fluid will cause excess friction and heat, leading to damage and transmission overhauls.
Those with manual transmissions should be particularly alert when driving so as to optimize your transmissions' performance. Review the proper clutch technique as outlined in the owner's manual as improper shifting can hamper gear changes and cause irrevocable damage. Additionally, review the proper downshifting techniques and, when coming to a stop, shift your vehicle into neutral which will prevent wear and tear on both your transmission and breaks. If at any time your manual transmission shudders while shifting, seek immediate service.
Just by being alert and responsive to your vehicle's transmission, you can avoid expensive transmission overhauls or rebuilds. The transmission is your vehicle's lifeline so properly care for it and have regular service.

Ensuring Safety In The Process Of Welding
The process of welding is not very easy, rather there are several risks associated with the process. If a novice without appropriate education and training carries out the work, it could be very dangerous. Safety measures are thus, very essential to carry on the process in a safe manner. The right safety gear is crucial to wear while performing such tasks in the correct manner.
The body part that bears the maximum risk during the welding process is the eyes. There are many factors for that such as the arc is extremely bright and constantly emits infrared and ultraviolet rays. Sometimes debris can fly loose, and therefore, it is extremely important to wear a helmet and safety glasses before the commencement of the work.
It is almost known to all that wearing a helmet while welding is a must, but do you know what type of helmet you should wear. You need to select a helmet depending upon the type of welding that you need to do and also your frequency of doing it.
Therefore, it is important that you keep certain aspects in mind while looking for a welding helmet.
Ease and usability must be the prime criteria for selecting a helmet. You must not face any difficulty while using it and rather opt to go without a helmet and encounter a risk.
Consider the weight and comfort factor of the helmet. The job of welding is quite a responsible task and therefore, you must get a helmet that comfortable and easy to wear.
The helmet must maintain clear visibility. There should not be any blockage in the vision of the person who wears a helmet. A welding worker must have a clear vision of all the fields while working.
Check out the degree of protection of the helmet. As mentioned above, the arc constantly emits ultraviolet rays and infrared rays. The helmet must have the correct shade lens to provide safeguard against such harmful emissions while welding.
Apart from that, there are other essential safety measures that must be taken during the welding process. Some welding materials are harmful to lungs and hence, lung protection is required.
Maintaining these simple attributes can ensure safety in the process of welding.

welding. i'm working on a gokart. is 80 amp arc welder .going to work for this. I want to weld about 1/8?
I want to make a frame from 1/8 inch thick. 1-1/2 square tubing. to make a mounting place for the engine of a gokart. I bought an old used. arc welder "80 watts" I think it says. and my welding rod just sticks. down. NOTE the welding rod is really old and I wonder what size I need maybe its too big. the rod is 1/8 inch. and coated with a brown colored. flux or what ever. maybe I should get 1/16" can you help?
I have a gas tourch. but I don't trust brass rod for this project. think it will not be strong enough.
Old damp rods stick just get new ones slightly smaller and go for it but be careful you do not blow holes in the square tube ~~
