Melee classes like rogue can be a bit tough to get into a low levels, and a bad spec will make things far worse; this rogue leveling build will tell you what talents to take, why to take them, and when. We'll also be with telling you which Glyphs to get!
Duel Wield Spec 5/5 - The extra damage on your auto-attacks is worth a lot at this point
Imp. Sinister Strike 2/2 - More Sinister Strikes=more damage
Precision 5/5 - Dual wielding means you miss, a lot.
Endurance 2/2 - More survivability and mobility
Imp. SnD 1/2 - You should be keeping SnD up all the time, but probably won't need this unless fights are taking a while; a filler talent
Lightening Reflexes 3/3 - Survivability AND damage; very nice
Aggression 5/5 - Straightforward damage buff
Blade Flurry 1/1 - First offensive cool-down; use it often!
Imp. SnD 2/2 - Finish this now to get to the next tier.
Weapon Expertise 2/2 - Expertise reduces dodges, parries, etc; very nice
Blade Twisting 2/2 - Damage and a bit of run-prevention
Deflection 1/3 - A bit more defense; filler
Vitality 3/3 - A huge buff all around; more damage, interrupts, everything
Adrenaline Rush 1/1 - Another big offensive cool-down; use it with Blade Flurry for maximum damage
Deflection 2/3 - Filler again
Combat Potency 5/5 - Again, a big buff; more energy is awesome
Surprise Attacks 1/1 - Very nice damage buff
Savage Combat 2/2 - Yet another damage buff; combat specializes in that
Unfair Advantage 2/2 - otherwise useless talent that is awesome for leveling; evasion now doubles as an offensive cool-down
Prey on the Weak 5/5 - Pretty much a straightforward damage buff
Killing Spree 1/1 - This will one-shot most enemies. Pop Blade Flurry and use it on a group to destroy the entire group.
Note:You'll notice I skipped the weapon specializations. If you have an heirloom weapon, drop some filler points and get the appropriate one; otherwise it is simply a waste of time due to how often you'll be changing weapons.
Now, I recommend moving over to Subtlety for the rest; Assassination is more damage but the utility of Subtlety is a huge advantage in a Rogue leveling build.
Relentless Strike 5/5 - Despite what I just said, this is another raw damage buff
Camouflage 3/3 - There we go; stealth just got a lot more convenient!
Dirty Tricks 2/2 - More efficient CC is a great thing
Ghostly Strike 1/1 - Normally you would never take this, but it has great synergy with Unfair Advantage while leveling
Serrated Blades 3/3 - Raw damage buff
Malice 4/5 - Really you can get whatever you want; this is my recommendation if you aren't respeccing already.
At this point you'll want to change over to a real endgame spec; this rogue leveling build isn't really suited for anything you'll do at eighty, other than maybe Battlegrounds PvP.
Now then, what do we want to do for Glyphs when we are leveling? Here are my preferred Glyphs, in order of preference:
Killing Spree - Our strongest ability, more often.
Sinister Strike - Kind of RNG for leveling, but we don't have many better choices
Slice and Dice - Great if you find Slice and Dice dropping off a lot; lets you use a one-or-two point SnD and not need to refresh it.
Adrenaline Rush - Obviously making a strong cool-down stronger is a good thing
And for Minor Glyphs:
Blurred Speed - moving across water is always infuriatingly slow without this
Safe Fall - lots of 'shortcuts' rogues can take with this
Vanish - only other Minor Glyph worth looking at, so take it
I hope this spec helps you get to eighty quickly and easily. To further increase your leveling speed, I recommend two things:
1. Get a questing guide (you can check out my comparison review of some popular guides here)
2: Respec over to Mutilate at around level sixty; the front-end burst is perfect for leveling. My rogue gold farming guide has a good Mutilate spec for leveling, and basic instructions on how to play it.
