Here are some more information for Contact Tips:

Recently somebody shared with me a media list that they had found on the Internet because they thought this media list was a "goldmine." While I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, the media list could turn into a "landmine" if not used properly.
Here are my thoughts about what you need to be aware of when using media lists and how to contact the media. Â
1.      Many media prefer to be contacted by email, not telephone.  How do you know? Do your research; follow them on Twitter, etc. Then after you send an email, wait a week or two, and then send again.  Sometimes it's appropriate to call them as well. But it's worth trying to find out first.Â
2. Â Â Â Â Â Before you send an email, you need to make sure you're sending it to the right person for what you are sending and that you have the correct email address. Â If you send to the wrong person, they will just press delete. Â Also editors, reporters, producers, change all the time, so best do your homework before you press send.
3. Â Â Â Â Â Never send a mass email to the media, that's another delete. Instead send a personal email to whoever would be the best contact. Â Make sure you know what they've written about, produced etc. Â It doesn't help to mention it and say "I saw that you did a story on this; I thought that you might be interested in this as well."
4. Â Â Â Â Â Media get as much as 500 emails a day. Â The only way to capture their attention is the headline. Â If your headline is interesting, they may open your email.
5. Â Â Â Â Â On that note, make sure your email is short. Â Answer the who, what, when, where, and why. Â Secret: Â Media love bullet points.
6. Â Â Â Â Â Media begets other media. Â Â It's okay to mention that you've been interviewed by other outlets. Â (Maybe include it in your signature line or your boilerplate.)
7. Â Â Â Â Â Secret: Â You can find the contact info of most any media pro on the website of their outlet. Â Most have a "Submit news" email address. Â This is the best way to send news tips unless you have a relationship with a contact because there is a person whose job it is to monitor these email addresses all day and disperse the interesting stories to the reporters.
8.      Free publicity emails like HARO (Helpareporter dot com)  are great resources. The key to getting picked is to email them fast because many times it's the early bird that gets the worm, or in this case, the publicity. Â
9. Â Â Â Â Â Another way to get publicity is to blog regularly, write articles and get them published everywhere. Â Don't go to the media, make them go to you. Establish yourself as an expert in your field though your writing. Â
10. Â Once the media contacts you, contact them back right away!! Bend over backwards to accommodate them and you may become one of their regular sources.
11. Â Keep in mind that you do not have any control over what they write or report. Â The fact is that sometimes you're going to get disappointed. Â The details will get cut out, or the story won't mention your company name or book or they may interview you for an hour, use what you gave them for their story and not credit you at all. Â That's the way it is. Â They are not advertising for you. Â They are reporting news.
12. Â Â Lastly, once your story appears, email the reporter and thank them for a great story. Â
I hope these tips help you. Â Publicity is something that anyone can do for themselves with a little knowledge. The reason that people hire publicists is because generally they have the knowledge, contacts, resources and processes to get the job done. Â However, having a publicist doesn't guarantee that you will get coverage. Â Even though I have relationships with the media, they don't jump on every story that I send them. Â My relationship gets my foot in the door and that can make a difference. Â Â
All the best with your publicity campaigns.Â

Acuvue Contacts -- Tips From A User
Acuvue contacts come in all kids of models for many kinds of vision issues. Maybe you want an eye color change, which you can get with color contacts. Then you can get the lenses to correct most any eye problem. The ones I've personally used are the two 1 Day Acuvue models. Here's what I like about the 1 Day lenses.
1. Since you change lenses every day, you always have fresh lenses. That's one reason why these lenses are known for comfort.
2. Fresh lenses also mean less handling of lenses. That way there's less chance of eye irritation or eye infection. Less handling of the lenses means less risk.
3. Fewer hassles with cleaning. There's no cleaning and no disinfecting either. So no chemicals to buy and no time spent on all that either.
4. The time savings is a real plus. No minutes spent every day maintaining lenses. Need a lens? Just grab a new one and there you go.
5. The Moist version is especially right for those of us with dry eyes. The lens stays moist so it doesn't pull moisture from the surface of your eyes.
Those are pluses. The only downside I see is cost. They do cost a bit more than one or two week lenses, but not much more. The extra cost is somewhat offset by the savings on chemicals.
Acuvue contacts are what I've worn for the last 3 years. I've had the regular 1 Day and the 1 Day Moist. I like both, but the Moist version really seems to help with dry eyes.

any tips on getting email or contact info on BMT instructors at Lackland AFB?
My daughter is graduating tech school at Lackland. She would like to request her BMT instructor to place her pin on her for graduation. I understand that getting a personal email would not be feasible, but would like to try to get into a common contact list to see if the message could be forwarded. Any tips?
Hello Missy D.
I don't understand this "pinning" as I never heard of such a practice during my 27 years in the military.
However, as your daughter took her technical school training right there at Lackland AFB - the same base she did your basic training - the answer is simple.
Go to your BMT squadron's Orderly Room and speak with the administrative clerks or First Sergeant and ask to talk with her BMT instructor. He/she may be between new groups for BMT training or he/she may have new troops in training and he/she might be able to meet with her after he puts the new troops to sleep!
She's right there. She needs no e-mail or contact list. Just go to the Squadron Orderly Room!
She has freedom of movement about the base now while she is in technical school.
Best wishes,
Larry Smith
