The high voltage switching DC power supplies are not only more advantageous, more so than that of the linear switching power supplies, but as a result of terrific efficiency and dependability, and a state of the art schematic diagram, these high voltage units are expansively lighter in their over all weight as well. The primary reason for the lighter weight is that these devices do not come equipped with the more traditional, heavy, low frequency transformers, as well as for being much smaller in size compared to that of the 120 volt high voltage converter, as well as for having a lower generation of variable heat as a result of these high voltage switching DC power supplies having a much better and higher efficiency rate.
The high voltage switching DC power supplies just happen to have a few disadvantages to them as well. Most of these disadvantages involve a higher level of complication, a higher amplitude generation, higher frequency energy, which is when the lower pass filter has to stop this by any means possible in order to steer clear from electromagnetic interference, and lastly to ripple the voltage which is located by the alternating frequency at the open frame.
The four main types of high voltage DC units have been made easily available to you. The different types, each of which having an individual and unique variable schematic diagram, are categorized based on their individual output and input waveforms, which are also known as;
- voltage converters - DC out and DC in
- rectifiers - AC in and DC out
- cycloconverters - AC in and AC out
- inverters - DC in and AC out.
The term for the open frame power supplies used to be a very commonly used term. That was until the time that it became trademarked by the company Motorola. Motorola had technically trademarked that term which we all know as "switchmode"™. This term became a trademark for the items that had been pushed towards these product's unit market.
If you were to take a look at the most common appliances used by people all over the world, such as personal computers, laptop computers, and many other appliances, which could sometimes only work on open frame power supplies, which include these specific 120volt universal inputs, which in turn means that these power supplies are able to harness power from the greater part of mains supplies through out the countries of the world. Therefore, allowing these power supplies to operate with a much larger, considerably more resourceful frequency range.
The main method in which these high voltage switching DC power supplies operate is as follows. The primary unit will shut off the device once a signal is sent to it from the motherboard. Most of these appliances come standard with a stand by mode to prevent the device from over heating, while other manufacturers provide your appliances with an energy efficient power supply that can preserve energy. By using an energy efficient voltage regulator stabilizer, you can conserve a considerable quantity of electricity.

6 Years Later: Ground Zero Recalled
August 30, 2007 (Wilmington, DE) -- On the morning of September 11th, 2001, Lou Angeli was brewing coffee when he glanced at his TV just in time to see the second jet slam into the south tower of the World Trade Center. He stood motionless, kowing that the FDNY would soon engage in the most harrowing event in US history.
Moments later he received instructions to head for New York in his dual role; as a first responder firefighter and also as a producer of disaster training films. For the next 16 nights and days thereafter, he recorded footage at the "Ground Zero" site.
As both a firefighter and a cameraman, he faced a dilemma; should his role as a firefighter take precedence over his responsibilities to document historic tragedy? As one of only two sanctioned videographers within the yellow tape perimeter Lou Angeli would have to do both.
Firefighters, urban search and rescue workers, welders, iron-workers, crane operators, construction professionals, rescue dogs and their handlers went well beyond the boundaries of their job, putting in hundreds of hours as volunteers, to try to find survivors and later to do what was needed when rescue became recovery.
Their tireless efforts could not save the victims of that tragic day, but Angeli says, "Their care and commitment allowed hundreds of families to find closure."
Fast forward to January 2004 at an international bbroadcasting convention in Las Vegas. As he attended seminars and walked the trade show aisles. Lou Angeli was bombarded by distributors who suggested that he develop a documentary of his 9/11 experience.
Angeli had been reluctant to make his footage public due to the sensitive nature of this horrific event and the deep wounds it had inflicted in the hearts of Americans. But other film professionals talked to him about how this footage could be woven into a worthy story. One that paid tribute to the fallen, remembered the heroes, and touched on some of the lessons to be learned.
Angeli noticed during his Ground Zero experience the enormous contribution made by thousands of volunteers, everyday people, who supported the rescue and relief workers.
"They worked tirelessly to provide water, food, supplies and human connection to the rescue and recovery workers, and were among Ground Zero’s unsung heroes." Angeli recalls.
Within days of the convention, Angeli began work on a 9/11 documentary that dealt specifically with Ground Zero's volunteers. He titled the film "Answering The Call" and convinced actress Kathleen Turner, who he had met at Ground Zero, to serve as narrator.
With that first 24 hours serving as a backdrop, Answering the Call weaves the stories of rescue and support volunteers at Ground Zero as it develops its own identity and energy. What happened there illustrates the power of the human spirit in the midst of an unimaginable tragedy. “We were all a brother and a sister at Ground Zero." one volunteer recalls.
The interviews with the volunteers uncovered new facets of the story as well as identifying additional types of volunteers who were so essential to the mission. For some who were interviewed, it was the first time they actually reflected on their experience; having become like family with those that they never saw again away from the perimeter.
The film was released on the 5th anniversary of 9/11/01 and aired internationally to audiences in China, Italy, UK, France, Portugal, Spain -- but not in the USA. "Americans will have an opportunity to see 'Answering The Call' on the 10th anniversary.' Angeli notes. 'and every anniversary thereafter."
The film and his diary serve as an important historical document, one that describes America's worst day -- and Americans at their best.
