Here are some more information for Electric Welder:

During the process of repairing a Welder or Plasma Cutter it is necessary to examine the PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signals that determine the output current. The output current is controlled by the duty cycle of this switching waveform. To validate that the waveform is of the correct Amplitude and Duty cycle, an Oscilloscope is used.
Most Analog Oscilloscopes are more than adequate for taking these measurements however, Digital Storage Oscilloscopes (DSO) are becoming much more popular (and functional). Two of the most important (and obvious) characteristics of a DSO is the ability to clearly display a real-time (or captured) waveform at a high pixel count / frame refresh rate, and to store it for later analysis. Standard Analog Oscilloscopes do neither.
Whichever type of Oscilloscope you choose to use, here are some traps to avoid:
All Mains Powered Oscilloscopes have the BNC Probe outer shield connection connected to electrical ground. See for yourself - measure continuity on your Oscilloscope! The Manufacturer does this for safety reasons. A great idea! Unfortunately, from an equipment functionality point of view, this means that whatever the Test Probe clip is connected to in the circuit will be electrically shorted to Ground.
Let's assume that you need to take a measurement from Digital Ground to a Test point. If there is a potential difference between the two grounds then infinite current will want to flow between both potentials (only limited by the ground / circuit resistance). This usually results in smoke!
Now, also be aware that Multiple Channel Oscilloscopes (Dual or 4 channel) have the BNC Probe outer shield connections shorted together. For example: on a Dual Channel Oscilloscope (where Channel 1 and Channel 2 outer shields are connected together), depending on how the Ground clips are connected in circuit, we can now end up with current flowing between these two points (A double whammy)!
The first issue can be avoided by using a battery operated DSO, or with the addition of a Mains Isolation Transformer (where the ground potential is floating on the Secondary output). The second can be solved by using Isolation Test probes.
With DSO operation, it is important that all Signal waveforms are sampled at the highest sampling frequency available, then decremented as needed. This avoids any issues with aliasing, where the signal being sampled appears at an incorrect frequency. Aliasing occurs when the Sampling frequency is less than twice the Signal frequency (Nyquist theorem).
Also, remember that Welder and Plasma Cutter High Frequency (HF) and Pilot Voltages should never be directly measured without suitable isolation, and High Voltage Probes.

How big of a generator do I need to power my stick welder?
I just got a Lincoln Electric 225 amp arc welder and I don't have a shop or garage with a 230 volt plug so I was just wondering if I can get a generator that could power this thing so I can use it.
Yes, you can. Check the max current draw (Amps) on the welder, and simply find a generator that has more output than that. It need not be huge, many service trucks in this area have them, a regular five or 8 horse power motor hooked to a generator with enough juice to do it can be rather small.
