Okay you're there playing Halo3 on your Xbox 360 while demolishing each and every level of play but then it happens. What happened, you're probably wondering? Well what if the optical drive goes down? That would suck wouldn't it? How will you do an Xbox 360 optical drive repair so you can get back into the game as soon as possible? Now you're in luck because you want have to send it off and wait weeks and sometimes months to get your console back. Not to mention all the money you will be saving. No worry because now you can make an Xbox 360 optical drive repair from the comfort of your own home.
Basically, once you figure out what exactly the problem is you will be able to figure out exactly what to do. Of course one problem that a lot of gamers run into is what some folks call the ring of death or the 3 red lights error. What happens is because of the wonderful design from the technological guru's at Microsoft; the system has a problem with overheating. Most of this is due to the fact that everything is so compact within the Xbox 360 that there is hardly any room for ventilation. Also because the weld or soldering that is done inside the console vibrates loose, this also causes the system to overheat
The biggest problem when trying to correct this is there are so many "so called" fixes out that it is extremely important to find the right instructions so you don't damage your system more than it already is. What ever you do don't grab the hair dryer and try to fix your Xbox or the famous blowing into the console thinking that some how your breath is going to take care of the problem.
Another common problem gamers run into is the game freezing up and not moving. Below are a few steps you can do for an Xbox 360 optical drive repair:
Step 1. Grab a sharp pointy object so that you can take the outer case apart. After you remove the faceplate carefully remove the DVD drive from the Xbox and unscrew the bottom plate off underneath the console.
Step 2. Unplug all cables that are attached to the DVD drive.
Step 3. Remove the motherboard and fan from the system.
Step 4. Use the sharp pointy object to take off the X-clamp from the heat sink (looks like a silver box).
Step 5. Remove screws from the heat sink.
Step 6. Make sure to properly clean all components.
Step 7. Grab the GPU and apply thermal paste all around it but make sure to let it sit for a few minutes to allow the compound to dry.
Step 8. When screwing the heat sink back on make sure to use nylon washers where needed. For example, near the head of the screw and after you have pushed the screw up through the motherboard.
Step 9. Push the heat sink down tightly onto the screws and make sure it is secure.
Step 10. Now after you have placed everything where it goes inside the console, it is time for play.
This is one of many ways to Repair the optical drive, this should cure one of the many thousands of problems that can occur.
Of course there are many other errors that can come up when you or your children are playing there favorite games. To avoid expensive repairs and long down times of play it would be very beneficial for you to learn how to do your own Xbox 360 Optical Drive Repair. Don't pay high repair bills and have to wait a long time for you or your kids to be able to play your games. Grab a copy and fix your own Xbox. Welders, question about Miller Elite Auto Shade Hoods???
I bought a Miller Elite hood about 6 months ago. I really wasn't that Impressed with this hood. The shell is not rated for overhead welding, and whenever you go for more than 10 mins. without welding I have to take it off and press the reset button, otherwise it doesn't shade fast enough and I flash my eyes. I bought this one online from Cyberweld, I was wondering if this is common with all of miller's autoshade hoods, or did I get a knockoff or counterfeit. I would think for what these hoods cost they would be better made. Any input on these is appreciated.
I liked my old "Fibremetal" brand hood, because of the sturdiness of the hood, but want the convenience of autoshade. Do you know if there is anything like this out there.?
Those hoods are nice for a novice welder or one who does a lot of spot welding. I agree the shell is rather weak compared to the old Pipeliner hoods. It's a trade off, personally for the welding I do they would be a benefit but if I were a pro I'd use the tried and true Pipeliner (I'd get rid of the rubber band for a ratchet though). But that's just me.
Just Jargon: Dennis Taylor shoots 168(!) at Pebble Beach
Dennis Taylor is a former Tribune sports writer whose insight, humor and wit entertained Weld readers for 17 years before he left in 1997, literally taking Horace Greeley's suggestion to heart and heading west. Taylor didn't stop until he hit the Pacific Ocean, landing in Monterey, Calif., at the Monterey Herald. In 12 years, he's become a familiar face at the manicured grounds of Pebble Beach ...
