Cost of heating boiler with propane as compared to fuel oil per gallons ?
I do know that fuel oil has more btus per gallon,any heating dealers or fuel distributers out there ???
You should find oil given as 130-140,000 btu per gal and propane from 85-95,000 per gal, about 40% more heat per gal. There are other factors, especially the efficiency of the boiler. Also, propane runs a lot cleaner so maintenance costs are less (slightly).
I have calculated that the breakeven point is when heating oil is about 30% higher than propane, using the highest efficiency boiler in each class. Again, you will need to run the figures yourself.
