Here are some more information for Gas Compressor:

There are three main types of air compressors. The first type is a reciprocating air compressor, which increases the air pressure of the machine by reducing the volume of the air in its chamber. The second is called a rotary screw compressor, which compresses gas by forcing it through two screws using synchronization gears. The gap between the screws decreases, and compresses the gas. The third type is called a rotary centrifugal compressor, which relies on a 'rotating impeller' to transfer energy to the air and compress it.
All three of these compressors are used for industrial sized, air-powered machines, and are commonly used in places like factories, auto-shops, or construction sites.
One type of the rotary screw system is the oil free air compressor. In this type of compressor, there is no oil used to cool or seal the chamber which holds the gas charge. Instead, the gas is compressed solely by the action of the two screws. The system is air or water cooled, in order to keep the machine from generating too much heat. Typically, this system is used in places where excess oil could be harmful to the machines or areas being worked on, such as semi-conductor manufacturing, or medical research. Trusted manufacturers like Atlas-Copco, Werther, and HP all make versions of this compressor.
An oil free air compressor can't produce quite as much pressure as an oil-flooded system, although this type of compressor is still capable of producing about 150 psig, and has an output volume of over 2000 cubic feet per minute. This type of compressor has a wide range of uses. Because the air is free of any oil, it is safe for use in the industries of food and beverage, electronics, automotive construction and repair, paint, paper and plastic manufacturing, even snow making and hospital use. The risk of oil contamination is greatly reduced by the use of this type of compressor.
If you are looking to obtain an oil free air compressor, there are many makes and models available for rent or purchase. Because these machines are designed for industrial use, many companies choose to rent rather than purchase, as a typical rotary screw air compressor package can cost between $5000-$10,000. It is important to research thoroughly before purchasing or renting this type of compressor. Fortunately, there are many reviews online for a large number of makes and models, so finding the product that is right for you is made easy.

Things to Consider when Purchasing a Portable Air Compressor
Air tools can make your work much easier and efficient, and a portable air compressor is a necessity if you want to use them. Air compressors are available in many sizes and capacities. Some of the larger ones have wheels and handles to help move them around. They have different horsepower and pound per square inch (psi) ratings. They are typically powered by gas, electric, or diesel. The nice thing about the electric ones is that they can be used in spaces where you don't want to deal with the fumes. Of course, gas gives a high degree of reliability for frequent use, and is perfect when you need maximum portability. There's just not always a current bush around when you need one.
When you are in the market for a portable air compressor you need to take a look at your requirements. For example, if you are planning on using it for airbrushing, then a five liter tank capacity and approximately 30psi would be sufficient. If you need a larger volume of air then you obviously need something with a larger capacity. Otherwise, you'll be standing around waiting for your tank to fill up and that will not only decrease how efficient your work is, but it will also drive you crazy. I use a small pancake unit that works great for my brad nailer, but is constantly kicking on and refilling when I use the air blower attachment.
A portable air compressor is, well, portable. That means that you can move it around. So ask yourself how you'll be using it. If you need to fix the shingles up on the roof then portable is great. If you really just want something to fill the tires in the garage then maybe a portable unit will work, but you may want something with a higher capacity. Either way, just make sure you consider the various uses you may have before you buy.
Another thing to consider is your power source. Most air compressors in the US run on 110 volt, but some of the larger ones do run on 240 volt. Make sure to check in advance of your purchase. You should also consider the pump type you need. A belt driven pump is great for heavy use, and a direct-drive is designed for light use. The belt driven pump is quieter but needs the oil changed from time to time.
It may go without saying, but knowing the requirements of your air tools before you buy a portable air compressor is essential. Then, add a margin of safety of 50 percent. Each tool you have will have its CFM requirement on the box. The great thing about air tools is that they deliver more power with less weight and generally have a lower cost than regular electric tools. Always use proper eye protection and consider using ear plugs, especially with the gas-powered units.
How much does a portable air compressor cost? Well, like most things it can vary quite a bit. A basic setup can cost a couple hundred bucks, whereas a more powerful compressor with all the bells and whistles can run you into the thousands.

What flow measuring device used in gas compressors in suction of the compressor?
I came to know from some source it is 'Orifice Plate type'..any one like to add if it is correct info...guys in petrochemical industries can confirm it.
An orifice plate will work but in general it is not a good idea to restrict the flow to the suction of a compressors because it reduces the performance.
Is this a centrifugal or reciprocating compressor? On centrifugal compressors as a part of the surge control system it is not uncommon to use a pitot tube device to see changes in flow rate. A pitot tube has very little pressure drop and since you want acfm on the suction for surge control, it makes sense to measure the flow at the suction rather than the discharge.
For reciprocating compressors there is very little reason to measure flow on the suction. It is typically measured on the discharge where the pressure is higher and pressure loss from the orifice plate is not as significant.
