My next door neighbor, who is quite the snoop, gave me an updated report on the hydrogen generator he had built and installed on his tractor. You want a company that would stay in touch with you as upgrades come about, and also has experts standing by as you install your system. 4) Don't buy into the hype. Look, a good system will increase your gas mileage, but I'd look to be conservative. Realistically, I'd go for no more than a 40% savings. If it's more, and from what I've seen it can be, but I wouldn't base the purchase of a system on the gas mileage they claim. They want to sell their product, and there's nothing wrong with that, but remember salesmen are just that… salesmen. They can try to spin the facts, but they can't hype the figures. The internet has been a godsend for research, and what I liked best was finding a way to actually see this system in action. Especially if you have a basement sump pump and there is water in it all the time. The generators they are making now are awesome machines and provide piece of mind for a lot of different reasons. Just be prepared for your gas bill when you have an extended power outage!
Make sure the generator is installed correctly and meets all codes... use a contractor who has done several. Talk with them to find out what maintenance is required / tests that need to be done periodically. Don't just ignore the thing or it will not work when you need it... now what good would that do.
