Can I operate my natural gas water heater with propane gas? will it work? is it safe?
I was unable to pay my pg&e bill and they shut off my gas. I'm not thinking of trying to use propane in place of natural gas for all of my gas appliances or anything. And I would only turn the propane on when I needed hot water for a shower or something and then I'd shut it off. It would only be occasionally if it is able to work.
Manufacturers will not sell a conversion kit, simply for the fact that it puts them at risk, if there is a failure. Some models in mobile homes used to have conversion kits, included, since it was not known at the time of manufacture, where the home would end up. Natural gas is a heavier gas, and the jets are larger than jets for LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) gases. LPG gas piping requires drip legs, that aren't usually found in natural gas piping.
