Master Lock Rotating Gate Valve Lockout, for 2" - 5" Valve Handle Diameters List Price: $19.88 Sale Price: $14.63 |
|
The Master Lock rotating gate valve lockout is a lockable thermoplastic shell that surrounds and covers a gate valve handle and aligns two flanges to form a hasp with up to four holes for padlocks (sold separately) to help protect against accidental valve opening as part of a lockout-tagout (LO/TO) safety procedure required at facilities where the flow of a fluid is controlled by a gate valve. This lockout consists of two halves; one slightly smaller half fits inside the larger half when not in use, for installation in confined spaces and a compact storage footprint. To deploy, the lockout is placed over a gate valve handle, with a center hole fitting over the gate valve stem, then the inner half is rotated out to surround the rest of the gate valve handle. Where the two halves meet, flanges from each half align to form a hasp with up to four locking holes. A padlock shackle placed through any of these holes obstructs the inward rotation action of the lockout, thereby prohibiting access to the gate valve handle. Multiple locking holes provide the ability to require multiple authorizations to allow operation of a locked out gate valve during maintenance or repair. This lockout is made from red Zenex thermoplastic, which is nonconductive and functions in extreme temperatures: -50 to 350 degrees F (-46 to 177 degrees C). On the outer (or top, depending on the orientation of the gate valve,) part of the shell a small circular area can be removed to allow installation over rising stem gate valves. This product includes three (English, French, and Spanish) high-visibility warning labels with erasable areas for task-specific details. One label fits on the lockout at a time. When used according to manufacturer's recommendations, this product is covered by a limited lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship or materials. Lockout-tagout (LO/TO) safety procedures, as defined by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), require that lockout devices be durable and standardized. Lockout devices use color, warning labels or tags, and a physical barrier to temporarily prohibit machine operation or power activation, and help reduce accidents, during maintenance or repair. Gate valve lockouts are lockout devices that temporarily prohibit operation of gate valves by covering the handle with a lockable shell. They are often used to secure fluids in the off position during maintenance or repair when multiple workers are on the job. Master Lock manufactures padlocks, combination locks, and related security products. The company, founded in 1921, is headquartered in Milwaukee, WI. |

Milwaukee Valve P901 Series Bronze Gate Valve, Class 150, Quick Opening Stem, Lever Handle, 4" NPT Female List Price: $7,811.92 Sale Price: $2,979.36 |
|
This class 150 Milwaukee P901 series bronze gate valve has a quick-opening stem with a lever handle and female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on both ends. The bronze construction of the gate valve and its brass double discs provide higher strength and resistance to corrosion than steel. The valve has a brass quick-opening stem that is manually operated by turning a malleable iron lever handle, which pushes the discs into the valve’s passage to stop flow between pipes. The pressure between the two discs forms a tight seal to stop potentially dangerous fluids from leaking and mixing. With the exception of the 4" valve that has an O-ring, this valve has graphite internal stem packing. The valve has female NPT threads on both ends for connecting to male threaded pipes. The maximum pressure of this class 150 valve is 300 pounds per square inch (gauge) (psig) for water, oil, and gas pressure (WOG) and 150 psig for saturated steam pressure. Class is a standard relating to tolerance, construction, dimension, and wall thickness, but it is not a direct measurement of maximum working pressure. The valve is appropriate for quick draining and steam blow-off use and other heating and plumbing applications. Gate valves control flow in a piping system by lifting a gate out of the path of steam, fluids, or gases. They are designed to block or permit flow, as the vibrations and force of flow repeatedly striking a partly lowered gate can damage the gate and seats. To accommodate different flows and pressure requirements, gates come in four types: solid wedge (appropriate for almost all liquid service), flexible wedge (appropriate for steam service), split wedge (appropriate for normal temperature, non-condensing gas and liquid service, including corrosive service), and parallel disc (appropriate for high and low pressure applications). Hand wheels or levers activate the screw mechanism in the valve’s bonnet, which comes in various designs, to open and close the gate. Union bonnets are preferable for building service piping, threaded-in (or screw-in) bonnets work well for lighter-duty usage, and bolted body-bonnet connections are used primarily in iron multi-turn valves. Most gate valves have either a rising stem, which moves up and down with the gate, or a non-rising stem, which remains fixed in place. When closed, the gate and its seats form tight planar sealing surfaces, ideal for linear liquid flow. Gate valves are used in air, gas, liquid, and steam applications. The Milwaukee Valve Company manufactures manual and actuated valves, controls, and control accessories. The company, founded in 1901, and headquartered in New Berlin, WI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 and 14001:2004 standards. |

Here are some more information for Gate Valves:

Emergency shut-off valves are those little valves beneath your sinks and toilets that supply water to the fixtures. They are an important component to your plumbing system as they give you the ability to shut water off to a leaking faucet or drain until repair can be made.
Because these valves are not used frequently, we find many times they are extremely hard to turn, or are "frozen" in the open position. Or sometimes they can be closed and become "frozen" in the closed position when you try to re-open them. It is not uncommon to find older homes with no working emergency shut-off valves whatsoever.
A similar problem is the valves that control the water supply at the house service and water heater. Valves called "gate" valves were commonly used (and in some areas still are) for these purposes. They are valves with a round handle and a "stem" that pushes a "gate" down into the valve to close, or raises it to open.
Our corrosive water quality in San Diego County plays havoc with these types of valves and it's only a matter of time until the stem deteriorates and the valve becomes frozen in whatever position that is in when this occurs. A better valve to use is a "full port" ball valve. Ball valves work by using a lever handle that rotates a ball inside the faucet turn and has no "stem." A recent innovation is ball valve angle stops and washing machine valves.
Once you've converted your system to ball valves, it is simple and easy to shut water off and on at various fixtures with a simple turn of the valve with the fingertips. If you've ever tried to shut off a hot water angle stop, found it "frozen," ran to the water heater and found a "frozen" gate valve, gone to the water service valve and found it "frozen," located the water meter and found a valve that could only be closed with a "meter key" device, you've probably had an opportunity to meet one of your friendly local firemen.

Features and Maintenances of Hydraulic Control Valve
The hydraulic control valve is the valve that controlled by hydraulic pressure. It is composed of a main valve and other attachments, such as pipeline, pilot valve, needle valve, ball valve and manometer. According to the use, function and different occasions, it could evolve into telecontrol float valve, reducing valve, slow shut check valves, flow control valve, release valve, hydraulic electric control valve and pump control valve, etc
The hydraulic control valve should be installed strainer and facilitated to drainage.
The hydraulic control valve makes good use of smooth run water, so there is no need to add motor oil. If the main valve's spare parts are damaged, please do dismantling under the following instructions. £¨usually the damaged ones consumed in the inner valve are mebranes and o-rings, the others are less.£©
1. First closing the gate valve forward and back of the main valve.
2. Loosing the tube union screw on the main bonnet to releasing the inner pressure.
3. Unsling all the screws include the essential copper pipe in the control pipeline.
4. Take bonnet and spring.
5. Lift down the central spindle, mebrane, piston, take care the membrane.
6. After taking away all of the above, examining whether the marine and o-ring are damaged. If not, please do not subdivide the inner spare parts by yourself.
7. If you find the mebrane or o-ring damaged, please loose the cap on the central spindle and resolve them gradually. After doing that, you may install the new mebrane and o-ring.
8. Exactly check whether the main valve's seat and central spindle are damaged and clean the sundries inside if there is.
9. Assembly the main valve's spare parts according to the opposite direction. Note without blocking.

what is OS & Y Normally valves like Gate/globe/NRV etc will be used in oil and gas industry and which standard?
Are you asking why the oil and gas industry typically uses OS&Y (outside screw and yoke) valves? If so, they use them because they provide the ability to adjust the packing in service and most also allow you to replace the packing in service. These valves also tend to be a more robust valve in terms of general construction.
The various standards are address pretty well at the site below:
