Here are some more information for Gen Welding:

What is an Industrial Diesel Generator? It is a large-scale combination of a diesel engine with an electrical engine, used to generate electricity. It consists of a diesel engine, a generator and various secondary parts such as base, control systems, control circuits and others. A compilation of these parts is called a generator set, simply abbreviated to "gen set". Usually having a lot of parts, it is usually taken apart and assembled at the site where it will be used. Depending on what it would be used for, the parts of the gen set are specifically picked out. Diesel generators could range from 8 to 2000 kVA, which could be used for producing electricity for homes and small offices to larger offices and factories either during power shortages or for added electricity for bigger functions.
Now, that we know what it is who would want such a large and heavy weight industrial generator? At the start of WW I, war ships needed extra power for better and faster propulsion that speeds them up and give them a larger chance of victory during wars. Today, ship owners would want it solely for faster product deliveries in cross-country transactions. Not only ships would need diesel generators, it is also used by many other establishments - from houses, to shops, to factories of each size. It is used for emergency electricity.
Factory owners would not and should not bring up his business without it. During processing, a black out would sometimes occur and it would put the quality of the products at stake, as well as the production quota. At times like this, a generator situated at the site would activate, saving your products. It would also power up small factories when they need extra power, as in the war ships of yesterday - it will speed up the processes helping them win the war of supply and demand. It is also used when power supply is low, leading to slower and smaller production. This is caused when people would come home, using electricity for cooking and lights. The electricity will be distributed to a larger area, giving bigger loads to the different power plants. To help with the production of power, industrial diesel generators are used to lighten up the load.
Seeing the problems that it would solve shows you how important these generators are to factories and different business firms. You would most likely want one, especially if you are operating a business. The only problem is, where do you get it? This is where the worldwide information transaction web comes in - the Internet. Through the internet, diesel generators of any size could be ordered, checked and delivered to you. Rentals would be the most common thing you will see when you search it on the net. Various sites will help you find the right generator for your needs, allowing you to personally contact and order your own diesel generator.
As the world progresses, more of our technology would be upgraded, needing more electricity. With the world's power shortages worsening because of the wasteful use of electricity, these what, who and where would answer our problems, showing us why you need the industrial diesel generator for business applications. After all, an emergency power supply is a must for your business, factory or field work situation.

Topics Covered In Toolbox Talks
Toolbox talks are designed to be a comprehensive course in safety, while not sounding like a "course" at all. The talks take the form of a discussion where workers are encouraged to tell their own stories, convey their own ideas on safety, and express their doubts and queries. However, it is necessary to include some useful information about hazardous situations, safety equipment, legal regulations and emergency protocol.
A typical outline for toolbox talks includes the following -
1. Preliminaries:
a. Laws governing health and safety
b. Responsibilities of workers
c. Responsibilities of employers
d. Safety signs and what they mean
2. On-site rules
a. First aid provisions and training
b. Reporting accidents or "close shaves" to a safety officer
c. Rules regarding adequate hygiene and comfort of on-site workers
3. Protective gear and clothing
a. Protective clothing for separate sets of hazardous circumstances - loose stone, heat, water etc
b. Separate sections on protective gear for the head, eyes, ears, face, hands, feet and so on
4. Working in areas prone to mechanical accidents, evaluating safety levels at such sites and dealing with potential or actual accidents
a. Working at a height
b. Performing excavations
c. Working near railway tracks
d. Underground cable systems, sewers, water pipes
e. Dealing with nearby gas mains
5. Working in areas at risk of chemical accidents, evaluating risk and knowing the safety protection due to the workers
a. Working in mines
b. Working in closed spaces
c. Knowing commonly found gases and being able to identify them
d. Handling chemical fumes and knowledge of adequate protection as well as remedial measures
6. Hazardous hand-held implements - proper usage, inspecting equipment and dealing with accidents
a. Power tools
b. Abrasive or cutting tools
c. Cartridge tools
7. Other hazardous circumstances - identifying the first signs of distress, rules about adequate safety gear, and remedying health problems or accidents
a. Laser exposure
b. Vibrations
c. Excessive sunlight exposure
d. Cement
e. Welding
f. Information about the "Control of Substances Hazardous to Health" or COSHH regulations
8. Working with large lifting machines or mobile plants
a. Basic usage guidelines
b. Reversing and towing large mobile plants
c. Inspection of cranes, mobile plants etc
d. Traffic control
9. Fire prevention and extinguishing
10. Site cleanliness, efficiency and housekeeping
a. This can prevent easily avoidable freak accidents of any magnitude, from simple trips to fatal slips
b. Checking quality of equipment and working platforms before commencing work
11. How to handle, carry and store materials
Toolbox talks - which may be conducted in ten to fifteen minute weekly sessions on longer and less frequent ones - should be made as interesting as possible for the delegates present at the sessions. The outline is part of the educator's spadework, and should not become an obvious part of the lecture. Since the sessions need to drive their points across in a relatively short time period with no way to test how much of the message gets through, it is imperative that the talks stay spontaneous, yet targeted and relevant.
Such talks will generate safety awareness among workers, and this will eventually lead to less accidents. Workers tend to carry out discussions on their own, long after the talks have been completed.

kohler engine problem?
lincoln weldanpower 150 AC WELDER/GENERATOR.....A...cant identify eng model ...one cyl ./gas/150 amp weld/gen. B. eng runs fine ...burns a little oil except until last night /while applying load -eng.bogs & white smoke comes out of crnk case breather vent holes on side of eng ? only when striking ?burning an arc??rings?valves?white smoke bfom crnk case ?...pls any suggestions ...nearly finished welding ? Allmost not quite..........allways sumpin?
You may have a blown piston and you are burning crank case oil. White smoke should not be coming form the crankcase breather hose. That hose at the most should see small pressure from the crank case going back into the air cleaner assembly mixing with the fuel and air. It acts as an emissions solution. One way to test this is cover you exhaust while the engine is running. If more smoke comes out of the breather hose you definately have a blown piston. The engine bogs down because exhaust is getting pulled back into the air cleaner
