Charles: I'm interviewing again in this article, Norm Bettencourt, self defense, close quarter, reality-based fighting instructor and trainer. Norm, tell us what is your background and what is your experience?
Norm: Well, I have a black belt in karate, and now I train full-time in street fighting and personal protection. Half of my training center is set up as a back alley. The other half is set up as an apartment setting. I teach people how to fight in real-world situations. I also have 15 years experience working in the security industry, everything from doing bodyguarding to doing other security gigs.
Charles: Now our subject for tonight is one of reality-based fighting. And the subject is when and where to strike first. What can you tell us about that?
Norm: Well, the first place I like to strike first is:
o Strike Number One - The Shins - So I would Kick The Shins. Whichever way you feel more comfortable kicking. I like to kick by curling my toes back and use a front kick to kick the shins. Kicking the shins is a low line kick. It's much harder to see. And when you make impact, with countless nerves on the shins, it will make your attacker go into immediate pain and crumble to the ground because remember, in a street fight, your kicking with boots or hard shoes, not with bare feet.
o The Second Tip I would give you is Attack The Eyes - You would either an eye jab or dig your thumb into the eye, and dig deep and just gouge him. A man who can't see, can't fight. So, that makes life much easier for you.
Charles: Would you gouge with both thumbs or with just one?
Norm: If I could gouge with both thumbs, I would. I would. Whatever is better suited for you because in some situations, you have one hand tying up the head, pushing that head down while eye gouging or sometimes, you can eye gouge with both your hands on both eyes.
o The Third One would be, I would Hit The Throat - A man who can't breathe, can't fight. So, by hitting that throat, either chopping at it, punching, doing whatever, once that happens, you attacker is gasping for air. It slows him down. It puts momentum on your side, and you can either get away or follow through with a more devastating technique.

Who thinks imposed pizza delivery fees (by Pizza Hut, Papa John's etc) are total bullcrap?
I do, and I won't tip if a corporation assesses me a delivery fee. It costs the restaurant nothing extra to send a driver out in his OWN car with his OWN gas to deliver your pizza, so why do they steal his delivery fee? If I were a driver, I would NOT WORK for a company who charged a 1.50 delivery fee to customers without ever having seen a penny of that money. This is just another way corporate America is gouging consumers.. and it's disgusting.
its the driver's job so he's already getting paid for it. if their a charge , then there's no tip.
