How can I get a stuck pump lid off?
I have an above ground pool. When I first moved in, I could remove the pump basket lid off so as to clear the pump basket. Then all of a sudden I couldnt remove it. I've given up about 3 times so far over the period of 6 months but I need to really go ahead and get it done because it is pretty clogged. In any case, this is what the pump lid looks like(although mine is black)- http://www.csauscorp.com/P4PumpLidS.jpg . I tried to put a clamp on it and turn it but it was unstable and falls off. I've tried tapping the edges with the edge of a screwdriver (like you do a pickle jar- hey, i've been desperate), and have had other friends try to remove it. And we've really gotten down on it and put some back into it and cannot remove it. As you can see from the pictures, it has no handle so can't figure a way of using a board for leverage. I've tried to have various water pressure situations (pump going, pump not going, no water running through it, etc...) and still no avail. Please help!
go to your local pool suppily store, they sell a tool made just for that that wont slip off. make sure the pump is off when trying to remove the lid. the lid is probaly cross threaded on there. good luck
