Introduction

This article will deal with how to fix the most common reason for the xbox 360 3 red flashing lights sometimes known as the "Red Ring Of Death".

The major reason for the xbox 360 red ring of death, sometimes known as RROD, is due to faulty manufacture of the main circuit board. This faulty manufacture results in poor solder joints which connect the main electronic chips to the circuit board. As the xbox 360 heats up the circuit board undergoes minute flexing and the faulty solder joints result in loss of electrical contact for the main electronic chips with the main circuit board and results in the xbox 3 red flashing lights.

The Towel Method

This is the oldest and perhaps best known of the xbox 360 3 red flashing lights do it at home fixes. Essentially the Xbox 360 is powered on whilst wrapped in a towel for a little while. The idea is that the heat generated by the xbox melts the solder and effectively eliminates bad solder problems. That at least is the theory. the reality is somewhat different. The XBox 360 is fitted with an electronic temperature regulator which switches off the Xbox before too much damage is done. So this method has been reported to work with some units but most will switch off without resolving the issue.

The Self Heating Method

This method requires that the XBox 360 is opened and the electronic thermal cut-off is disabled. The xbox 360 is then powered on for several minutes and the CPU and GPU heat up and eventually melt the solder which then reforms and repairs the faulty connectors. I like to think of this method as the xbox 360 3 red flashing lights self healing method. To see a step by step video of this process click on this link [http://www.xboxflashingredlights.docsabout.com].

The Heat Gun Method

If you have access to a heat gun then this can be employed to fix most xbox 360 3 red flashing lights problems that require re flowing the solder to fix bad connections. Using the xbox error code to determine the location of the fault. The heat gun is directed at the xbox motherboard area in question until the solder is observed to flow and the xbox then allowed to cool.

The xbox 360 3 red flashing lights need not mean expensive repairs or being seperated from your xbox for long periods of time. Just follow the most appropriate tip above and carry out the repairs yourself.

Removing Paint With A Hot Air Heat Gun

<!-- @page { margin: 2cm } P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm } -->

Tools you'll need for removing paint with a hot air heat gun:

Dust Sheet

Industrial Gloves

Goggles

A Washing Up Liquid Bottle, full of Water

Hot Air Heat Gun

1½" Ridged Scraper

3" Scraper or larger

Shaving Hooks

Palm Sander

Sand Paper

Removing paint, Paint Stripping or Burning Off. Some of the names used in the trade for removing old paint.

Burning off is an old decorators term, and was used when gas was the main sauce for removing paint and still preferred today by older painters in the trade because it's a lot faster. What's brought about the change is the DIY enthusiasts and the safety element as hot air is seen to be safer than the naked flame of a gas gun; in actual fact they can both ignite the paint there stripping and they will both burn you plus once you've bought your gas gun and gas canister that's your cost taken care of. Now try switching on your hot air gun and look at your electric meter, better sill don't, it will sicken you.

All that said the hot air heat gun is in the majority so here are a few tips and tricks on how to use the gun safely.

Most burning off work is done outside on flaking paint, windows sills and doors; one of the first things to watch out for is the weather, you can get away with doing outside paint work from mid spring onwards (after the frost) but you still need to watch out for the odd cold day. Burning off can be one of the first jobs you do when starting a new outside (outside paint work of a house); don't attempted to burn off near a window on a very cold day, it's the hot and cold thing with glass, pour hot water into a cold glass bowel and it will crack; same with hot air and a cold window.

With that in mind, why do we burn off paint; there comes a point when there's been that many coats of paint put on a door or window sill that adding to it will just make it look like treacle so we burn it off. Flaking paint on a door or window go's without saying, burn it off.

So working from the above list, put your sheet down first, then slip on your gloves and goggles. I must admit some times I don't wear goggles when I should, but burning off paint is one job where it's a must, I was on a job with a work mate that got a ember from the burning paint in is eye, not very nice as you can imagine. Turn on your hot air heat gun, it should take a few minutes before it's hot enough to start, hover the gun over about a 20cm sq section of paint, until the paint gets soft then move in with the gun holding it about 2" away from the paint and it will start to blister come behind the gun with your 1½" scraper and scraping the blister keep your gun on and around the next section your going to burn off and basically that's it, you wait until the paint blisters and then you scrape it off.

To make things a little easer here's a couple of tip's:

If your burning off horizontally that's fine just carry on as above; if your burning off vertically always try to start at the top and work down, if you work up the hot paint shavings your burning off will fall on the hand your scraping with.

When you come up against groves in the wood use the shaving hooks. A shaving hook just like a screw driver with a steel triangle on the end; there are two types both triangle shaped one with three points at each end of the triangle and the other with two points and one that's rounded off for getting into different types of mouldings.

When your getting close to a window use your large scraper as a shield and blister the paint by going on and off the area with your hot air heat gun, it takes a little longer but you won't crack your window.

Make sure you get as much paint off as you can while using the heat gun, leave no little bits hanging around because once they cool they go quite hard and you'll have to take it off by sanding.

So you've now used all your tools except your liquid soap bottle full of water; the bottle is purely for security as I have witnesses on a few occasions where timber as caught alight inside a window casing and you can't get a hand to it and poking at it with tools won't help; squeeze the water in the bottle at it, it's out.

Now get your palm sander and give it all a good sanding.

Will a heat gun work on Emulsion paint?

The walls I need to strip are smooth stone

The answer to your question is no as everyone else has said.
If you want to reveal all the natural stone again there are only two easy ways of doing it properly.
First is a Hi-Jet pressure washer and the second is a sand blaster, which you can hire from most hire shops.
If your stone walls are inside I would not advise the Pressure washer.

FAMU's Anthony feeling heat under center
For about 20 minutes after practice was done, Florida A&M center Shelley Anthony was still on the field taking snaps. With offensive coordinator Lawrence Kershaw keeping a close eye, Anthony fired one snap after another to quarterback Martin Ukpai.
