PETG Plastic Sheet .060 PETG Plastic Sheet .060" x 24" x 48" - Matte Finish - Lexan - Acrylic
Sale Price: $15.88

PETG is a thermoplastic sheet used in engineering applications. PETG offers the capability to produce complex shapes, precise details, deep draws and compound curves without worrying about durability. It's easily formed, die-cut and punched. It brings increased design freedom and lower fabrication costs. In sheet form, PETG has the impact strength and fabrication ease that acrylic can't touch. It offers high impact strength, good clarity, and is easily formed, punched and fabricated. Matte Finish offers a non-glare surface perfect for framing pictures, posters or artwork. When the print is touching the sheet, it is crystal clear and offers a non-glare surface. When the material is moved away from the print it acts like privacy glass and everything looks blurry when looking through the sheet.

Skylights bring warmth and natural light into the home. And there different options available when it comes to the materials used in skylights. Homeowners who desire a more durable skylight may want to consider installing polycarbonate skylights as opposed to one manufactured from pure glass. Just as with a glass skylight, one designed with polycarbonate in place of the glass will provide energy efficiency in the home while adding beauty and value as well.

What is polycarbonate? Polycarbonate is a tough plastic that exhibits outstanding strength, can withstand temperatures up to 125 degrees Celsius, and has opaque qualities. Despite its strength, it is lightweight - about one-sixth as heavy as glass and one-third as heavy as acrylic. Bulletproof windows are just one of the applications created from this transparent polymer. It is also used to manufacture CD's and sunglasses for adults and children. Polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable, as it is nearly 200 times more resistant to breakage than even the thickest glass. These properties make polycarbonate an excellent choice for skylights in homes that are located on or near a golf course, in a heavily wooded area, or in a climate that could experience severe hail storms. You'll feel safer under a skylight made from this practically impenetrable plastic, and still enjoy the warmth and beauty of the sunlight streaming into your home.

Just as glass allows natural light to stream into the rooms of your home, a skylight manufactured from polycarbonate will allow the same natural light into your home, but will be less likely to break if something hits it from the outside. These skylights usually come standard with an ultraviolet film that protects you from nearly 98% of the UV rays passing through the skylight.

Some homeowners enjoy adding their own touch to every area of their living space. Manufacturers who offer the skylights made from polycarbonate may also offer two other protective, yet decorative, films to cover your skylight. The opal lens option allows about 90% of the natural light to pass, while allowing a uniform distribution of the light into the space.

Perhaps you have a room in your home where you would enjoy a skylight, but without so much natural light entering the space. The bronze filter option allows less light, about 40%, into the living space, making the area a bit darker, but still allowing for some sunlight to enter. There are protective films that range in translucency between the opal and the bronze, so there is a shade that would work for just about every homeowner.

Medical experts say that natural light helps to alleviate mood swings and helps to prevent depression, especially during the winter months. Having skylights installed in the home makes sense not only in the way of energy efficiency, but also in creating an atmosphere that is relaxed, inviting, and uplifting to the spirits.

A professional contractor should always complete the installation of polycarbonate skylights, just as with other types of skylights. This will ensure an excellent fit and proper sealing around the opening, which means you will enjoy the most energy savings possible.

Note: Just as you would check the references of a contractor building your new home, it's a good idea to do the same with the contractor who will be installing your skylights.

The Evolution Of Textile Technology

From the dawn of human history, we have taken the materials at hand and created textiles out of them. From fur and wool to cotton and sisal, we have crafted textiles out of animals and plants. Over the past half-century, synthetic materials like nylon, acrylic, and polyester have added to our textile repertoire. But perhaps our most astounding technological leap in fiber technology is our ability to make fibers ultra thin. These so-called microfibers make up the ultimate cloth and have paved the way for applications as diverse as apparel, sports equipment, and cleaning.

In fact, when it comes to effective cleaning, mircofiber has few peers. Because the fibers are so thin (about 1/200 the width of human hair), they can be spun in such a way as to leave spaces between the fibers. These spaces, in turn, create a surface that can lift and trap dust, dirt, and moisture. The particles are trapped there until the mirafiber is washed. These characteristics are in stark contrast to those of ordinary fibers, which simply push around dirt and dust, leaving a residue on surfaces.

This ultimate cloth uses water as a lubricant to emulsify dirt and oil; in fact, the cloth can generally absorb about seven times its weight in water. The spaces that allow for the absorption of water also make the cloths dry out more quickly. Similarly, because the fibers are so thin and there are so many of them woven together, they can almost be guaranteed to last up to five years.

When it comes to cleaning, these mirafiber cloths are safe for virtually any surface. Around the house, they can be used on windows, mirrors, glass, ceramic, tile, and stainless steel. They can also be used to clean vehicles' windshields, chrome, and auto bodies. Because they can be used on Lexan, Eisanglass, plastic, and fiberglass, this ultimate cloth comes in handy for motorcycles, boats, and RVs. Best of all, the microfiber technology means that they will leave surfaces streak free, and that the cloths are washable and bleachable.

Today, this ultimate cloth is manufactured in a variety of different applications. In addition to cleaning cloths, you can find mini sizes for cleaning glasses and small electronics; string mops for tile, laminate, and hardwood flooring; dusting mitts for blinds, ceiling fans, and small items; and even pillow covers for travel size pillows that are helpful to those with allergies.

Because the cloths work beautifully using only water, they are being embraced by those who wish to reduce their impact on the earth by avoiding chemically based products and paper towels for cleaning. Their eco-friendliness extends to people with environmental sensitivities, who may have an adverse reaction to conventional cleaning products.

Textile technology continues to evolve, but the ultimate cloth may have already been invented.

Ok well i am looking to mod my computer case a little and i dont know exactly what to buy....?

I want to make the left and the right sides with clear windows and i was thinking of using 1/8" clear acrylic lexan polycarbonate sheets..would this work? and also would i be able to use some sort of hand held knife to cut it with? Because i am at college and i dont want to go out and buy a saw...

UMMMM, yeaaaaa...
I don't know if you have paid attention to the inside of a computer, but usually one side is covered by the MoBo and isn't very pretty to look at so you probably want to only open up the left side (make sure, some can be inverted).
Anyway, I doubt that you could cut an 1/8" piece of plastic with a knife and SEVERELY doubt that you could open up you side panel (if it is like most and made of metal). See if your college or a friend has a saw that you could use.
GOOD NEWS is that your "1/8" clear acrylic lexan polycarbonate sheets" should be fine.
