Shopping for the holidays is something I love to do, so me and my friend were out enjoying just that. Instead of searching all over the facility for each other when we are done though we just wait outdoors for each other. I decided to go over to a vending machine to get a cold drink while I waited.
The one I used only offered bottled drinks and it allowed them to be dispensed completely in an upright position. The design of the machine is very smart as it pushes the selection forward and then moves it to the side. It is then pushed forward again to reach you.
During the entire transfer of the drink I purchased, the bottle of soda was never turned sideways or upside down. I was able to open it without worrying that it had been shaken up. All of us have opened a drink at one time or another and ended up wearing part of it. With this ingenious technology behind a vending machine though it definitely reduces that risk.
This was quite a busy soda dispensing machine that day in just the 20 or so minutes that I sat there waiting for my friend to finish shopping. People of all ages were going to that particular machine to make a purchase. The older style of vending machines surrounding it were just left alone.
My friend laughed because when she came out of the store I didn't rush to show her the items I had purchased. Instead I wanted her to get a soda from that machine. She liked the idea behind it too. I guess the idea is starting to be advertised because at the movies there was a short skit with cartoon characters inside of a vending machine while a person waited outside for their drink.
I think many vending machine business owners are excited about this new concept. Some of them will rush out to buy them but I am sure they are expensive. The novelty of them will soon wear off and then they may be stuck with a high dollar vending machine they struggle to pay for.
There may be some quirks to work out with this new vending concept too. You never know what will happen in the industry until you give it a chance. Many owners in this business will pay attention to see how well they hold up before they make a decision to invest in them or not.
I only saw one of this type of machine and observed it for about 25 minutes. With the traffic I saw at this site as well as directly to that machine, it would be worth it for vending machine business owners to conduct their own observation studies. What Is Plastic Injection Molding?

The equipments involved in plastic mold injection molding are very sophisticated and costly. They are known as injection molding machines. The machinery used are also heavy and some even weigh up to tons of kilogram. But only when these kinds of machines are used the final product turns out to be a quality product. This is so because the plastic molds are fed into these machines and they are heated until they become fluid. This signifies that the machines should bear up high temperature and thus comes the requirement of sophisticated equipments.
The plastic mould when poured, takes the shape of the cavity or the mold used and get solidified or settled in it. After some time molded material is ejected out from the cavity. The same cavity can be used to make any number of molds. The mold can be of any preferred shape. The mold has two components namely the injection mold and the ejector mold. The melted plastic mold resin is transferred into the mold and the ejector mold helps in ejecting the plastic mold part after it is solidified in the mold without any damage using ejecting pins.

Finally the solidified plastic mold part is taken out from the mold either manually or automatically.
The plastic mold parts experience a change in their physical as well as chemical properties once the cooling process takes place. The most eminent design contemplation of the plastic mold injection molding process is the width of the mold. Usually a mold with a uniform wall thickness is favored. This helps in reducing the change in mechanical properties of the plastic mold part.

It depends heavily on the complexity of the design. Also on how many parts you want to make. For a short run, and aluminum mold is a lot cheaper than a steel one, but it is only good for a couple of thousand parts. A steel mold would cost around $10k - $50k. (Actually they are known as dies, not molds).
The best way to get this done is to go to an industrial design house (google one near you). They will make the NCD files, have the mold fabricated, and give you the best options for offshore production.
A hand operated injection molding machine can be procured for a couple thousand dollars, and high end machines go up to several million. It all depends on what you want to do. The reference is a small automated machine for $7,900 used.
