I have considered opening a multi-purpose business for a long time but I do not know how. How do I start?
My idea is a garage cleaning, window cleaning, lawn mowing, landscaping (mulch, planting flowers), car cleaning outfit.

Sounds like it could work. You could also add things like cleaning inside a house, cleaning cookers etc.
There are some things you will need to work out though, for instance are you going to be a one man band and do it all yourself ? or will you have a team of people ?
The problem is that if you get engaged to do all you've suggested on one property then it will take you a couple of days and to make that pay you'll need to charge a high rate.
On the other hand if you have a team of people they maybe able to do a couple of properties a day, or you may not need all the team at one location so they can start on another and keep the cost down.
You should also look at setting up regular maintenance agreements. Perhaps have a thorough deep down clean of a property at first then the follow ups would be fairly quick and cheap, if you made the deep clean a condition of the contract you'd tie clients in to you.
As for starting up well you'd need to do a bit of market research perhaps see if there's any businesses in your area that could use your services, property letting agents or your local council or holiday home companies. Maybe a flyer campaign round the posh houses in your area. Try writing an editorial piece that advertises your services and send it to your local papers and free sheets.
