We breathe inhale and exhale around 15 to 25 times per minute without even commanding ourselves to do so. When we do some exercise, our breathing rates increases dramatically, without again, our consent to do so. We are doing it involuntarily and readily. We should thank our lungs for making it possible for us to breathe, and also our mother nature, for giving us the air that we breathe. What about the organisms without lungs? Let's say, fish? Well, fish has a different way of breathing. Since lungs cannot function well in water, they managed to develop their very own breathing organ which is the gills.
The air that terrestrial animal breathe is made up of 21 percent oxygen. Oxygen is a very important element that keeps all the organisms alive, even those who doesn't have lungs. Fish need oxygen too; however, since they don't have lungs and they don't breathe air, they take up oxygen from the water. Dissolved oxygen is what we call the oxygen in the water that is readily available for the fish. With the use of their gills, they take oxygen from the water just as we take oxygen from the air. Under the water, we can say that oxygen is considered rare and a very precious resource.
Even if we said earlier that air is 21 percent oxygen, it's very different with water. Water has only a very minute amount of dissolved oxygen. The ideal amount of dissolved oxygen in the water should be at least five pars per million (ppm) (5/1,000,000). When the amount of the dissolved oxygen became lesser than five parts per million, the fish becomes stressed and uncomfortable. Majority of the fish will begin to suffocate and will start dying when the oxygen is two parts per million or even lower. We can therefore say that fish really depends on dissolved oxygen for survival. So it is very important to know what dissolved oxygen is. It is also advisable not to pollute our water because it lessen the amount of dissolved oxygen that is needed by the fish. We should always remember to keep our rivers and streams clean so the fish can have a better life underwater.
To make it easier for nature to produce dissolved oxygen, we have to help stabilize the water's different physical factors. Like the temperature, the lower the temperature is, the greater is the amount of oxygen that can be dissolved. We should remember that the higher the the oxygen is, the better for the fish, that is, if it is not over the water saturation point. So to make it easier, they computed the amount of oxygen that is dissolved needed or required for different temperature for fish. For water with.5 degrees Celsius, the maximum amount of dissolved oxygen should be 12.8 milligram per liter and the minimum should be 9.1 milligram per liter. For water with the temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, the maximum available dissolved oxygen should be 11.3 milligram per liter and minimum of 8.8 milligram per liter.
For 15 degrees Celsius, the maximum amount of dissolved oxygen should be 10.2 milligram per liter and the minimum should e 8.3 milligram per liter. If the water is 20 degrees Celsius, the maximum amount of dissolved oxygen should be 9.2 milligram per liter and the minimum should be 7.8 milligram per liter. If the temperature becomes 25 degrees Celsius, the maximum dissolved oxygen in the water should be 8.2 milligram per liter and the minimum should be 7.5 m milligram per liter. If the temperature reaches 30 degrees Celsius, the maximum amount of oxygen should be 7.4 milligram per liter and the minimum should be 6.9 milligram per liter. If these amounts are successfully obtained, the fish can live happily and comfortably in the water! They will have enough oxygen to breathe. They can survive.

Swedish or Deep tissue, what is right massage for me?
At my spa in Madison, Ms one of the most frequently asked questions I get asked is, “Swedish or Deep tissue; what is the difference?” Of course the simple answer is; how sore you want to be three days later. But it really is a little more complex than that.
The great benefit of massage is gained through increased circulation. When the heart pumps it brings fresh blood and oxygen to the cells. The cells use the oxygen and fresh nutrients in the blood to repair and rebuild themselves and then they expel the stuff they haven’t used into the lymph system. In a perfect system the chemicals in the lymph system are expelled totally through excretion and sweat. We rarely live in a perfect world though and perfect bodies are even harder to come by. When you are athletic or put a sudden strain on your muscles sometimes chemicals triggered by adrenaline float in the lymph system and lactic acid may stay around the muscles. That is what makes them sore and achy.
The lymph system follows the circulatory system and flushes itself each time it feels the heart pump. It doesn’t take a lot of pressure and discomfort to put pressure on the lymph system to make fluids drain off easier. Just rhythmic strokes are enough to assist the system. A good Swedish massage which uses long flowing strokes to move fluid from one area of the body to another is fine for most body types, and in fact is very beneficial.
Deep tissue is a whole other animal. I think a lot of people request deep tissue because they feel like they are getting more for their money. At Earthly delights we do charge more for deep tissue because it is harder on the therapist’s joints and hands. Like professional athletes we have a limited career span and we have to use it wisely. Deep tissue goes beyond the superficial layer and should include specific pressure to the connection points and to the belly of the muscle. It can be a bit uncomfortable but should never be painful. This should be a hurts so good massage.
Who should get deep tissue? Or when is it appropriate. Deep tissue was developed for athletes in order to get better performance from their bodies. So it should be used as a training aid in getting ready for an event, although I would never do a deep tissue any closer than 72 hours to a race or event. It is also wonderful for someone who is recovering from an injury. In a sense deep tissue executed well is like hard booting your computer and removing the strain or injury lock your body is in and restoring it to factory settings.
Both styles are wonderful and both serve a specific purpose be sure you know what you want to accomplish with your body when you ask your therapist for each style. On average a healthy body needs a massage about once a month and when you are in sync and on a schedule strains and injuries are less likely to happen.

gasoline and pure oxygen for cars?
why don't we use tanks of gasoline and a separate machine capable of isolating pure oxygen to create high powered combustion in chambers to power a traditional style internal combustion engine (obviously modified to handle the greater pressure)?
Nitrous oxide has the effect of providing more oxygen and hence additional fuel can be added with NOX to greatly enhanced power output. But running costs are high. The same would probably be true of oxygen. The potential exists to gain 5x the power by b urning fuel in pure oxygen.
My hunch is that an engine 5x the size will have much lower operating costs than an engine burning fuel in pure oxygen for any given power output.
