Milwaukee Valve 509T Series Bronze Swing Check Valve, Class 125, 1/2" NPT Female List Price: $120.35 Sale Price: $64.99 |
|
The Milwaukee Valve 509T series bronze swing check valve with female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on both ends is a class 125 valve used for restricting fluid flow to one direction. It has a hinged disc that swings onto the seat of the valve to block reverse flow. The valve body is made of American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) B-62 bronze for strength and corrosion resistance. This valve has maximum pressure ratings of 200 pounds per square inch (gauge) (psig) for water, oil, and gas (WOG) and 125 psig for steam working pressure (SWP), and a cracking pressure of 0.5 psi. It has female NPT threads on both ends for connecting to male threaded pipes with tighter seals than straight threads. This class 125 check valve is for use in water lines, processing plants, and agricultural applications and meets standard MSS SP-80 for quality assurance. Class is a standard relating to tolerance, construction, dimension, and wall thickness, but it is not a direct measurement of maximum working pressure. Check valves have two ports and restrict the flow of fluids and other loose materials through a pipe or passageway to one direction. Flow enters through one port and exits through the other, closing when flow reverses or stops. Two common types of check valves are ball cone valves and swing check valves. A ball cone valve utilizes a spring-loaded ball seated against a cone-shaped interior surface to stop the flow of fluid in a forward direction, and a swing check valve has a movable disc on a hinge to block reverse flow. Check valves are rated by their cracking pressure (the minimum upstream pressure required for the valve to operate), and they are used in various water, gas, air, and steam lines. The Milwaukee Valve Company manufactures manual and actuated valves, controls, and control accessories. The company, founded in 1901, and headquartered in New Berlin, WI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 and 14001:2004 standards. |

Here are some more information for Swing Check:

There are very few things more frustrating to an athlete than than to struggle at the plate as a hitter and not understand where the problem stems from. When I work with hitters, I focus on perfecting the functions of lower body mechanics because of the affect the lower body has on the upper half. Trying to solve upper body hitting mechanics without addressing the lower half first is like attempting to build a house beginning with the second story prior to building the basement - it doesn't work too well.
Some of the common mistakes that can be ironed out with some common lower body baseball drills are:
1. Collapsing of the backside (shoulder dipping)
2. Front side (hip) flying open
3. Hunching over the plate (upper body)
4. Hands extending away from body through swing
Here is what to check for as you work with the lower body mechanics of your athletes during some baseball drills.
As the hitter shifts some weight onto his back leg (the load) prior to the pitch, look to see if that weight continues to stay on the back side as the swing begins. Many hitters have the problem of letting their hips slide forward towards the pitcher during the beginning stages of the swing. This problem (often called floating) can be a major cause of some of the above problems.
Because I understand that visualizing the process I'm referring to in text can be tricky, there is a Hitting Mechanics 101 video enhanced ebook I've created that illustrates a proper trigger and lower body mechanics. You can find the ebook by visiting the links below.

Chasing The Perfect Golf Swing
Even the guys who play golf for a living and get the best golf instruction in the world still struggle to improve their golf swing and they practice each and every day. When your golf swing is off and you're playing golf badly it isn't a lot of fun, but you can change it if you apply yourself. Golf is a difficult game to master and most golfers just don't have the time it takes to practice, practice, and practice to significantly improve it.
Golf requires tough mental fitness as well as physical fitness and this is often overlooked. Keep the good positive energy flowing and don't give in to any negative thoughts. On the golf course focus or concentrate totally on your swing and you'll get the best score. Don't let unrelated thoughts slip in. Say to yourself 'be here now' to stay focused. As you swing, visualize exactly where you want the ball to land.
At the end of a proper golf swing, the weight should have shifted almost entirely to the left foot, with the body fully turned to the left and the hands should be above the left shoulder with the club hanging down over the back. The most important thing about the golf swing is the angle, not the strength that's applied to it. That is only one of many swing secrets. Ask your club golf pro to evaluate your posture and biomechanics while you're swinging.
Swing slowly and steadily using good rhythm. And make sure not to grip the golf club too tightly.
Many golfers who are left-handed prefer the right-handed golf swing. Now at the end of a backswing the hands are above the right shoulder with the golf club pointing more or less in the intended direction of the ball flight. When you swing, if you have a problem with your left knee buckling, imagine holding a soccer ball between your knees.
Make sure to use the basic 'hitchhiker' position when working on your back swing. One of the problems that most inexperienced golfers share is that they think much too much about their swing.
Most golfers don't know that there are techniques that will greatly affect swing mechanics. You can get an edge by changing your approach. You can get rid of any annoying shoulder problems with some simple techniques. In order to prevent injury and improve swing speed and distance your body needs to be strong and flexible. Using some simple tips, techniques and stretches, you can increase your drives by up to 20 yards in a short period of time.
Keep in mind that with some golf swing trainers, you may still need some help from an expert. And most of all you don't want to waste your money on a golf swing aid you don't need or will never use. If you're looking for a golf swing trainer to improve your stance they are easy to find.
There are swing aids that will act as driving range simulators too. And you can find golf trainers that will help you with your wrist and arm position. There are golf swing aids to help you with your swing alignment.
Before you buy any aid or trainer for your swing, check with an expert to get an idea of what problem you need to work on first; for example, back lift of golf swing, momentum of downward thrust or your stance. Whether you're a seasoned golfer or just starting out, get just one trainer or aid and go to work on your natural, proper golf swing. Look for golf swing trainers at your local golf course too.
And need I mention that with plenty of practice, a super golf swing will be the end result. There are hundreds of free and simple golf tips to seek out in consumer and sports magazines, in books, ebooks, software and DVDs both, online and offline. And if you apply both mental and physical workouts, your reward will be super golf swing improvement.
It's important to just try to relax and enjoy your game while you play. And when you play a round of golf, concentrate on your putting, improving your golf swing or something specific for that day. Always have a plan in mind.

Is the "check swing" an official MLB stat?
For example: is a strikeout by swinging officially scored differently than a strikeout by check swing?
I wanted reliable sources on this one. No guessing.
ANagah.
I know what constitutes a swing and a strikeout. You're taking my terminology too seriously.
I'm just making the distinction between someone striking out using a full swing and a batter striking out on a "partial" swing (I'll avoid using "checked swing").
So I guess a "partial" swing stat is what I'm wondering about here.
anAGAh.
No it is not. If the batter comes around and strikes out, it's considered a swing. A checked swing is when the bat does not cross the plate and is therefore not a strike. Once the bat crosses the plate and the wrists turn over, it's a swing.
Checked swings are not official stats, they're just a fact of life in MLB.
