How To Store LI-ION Canon NB-4L Digital Camera Battery?
- Keep canon nb-4l battery in a cool and dry storage area. Refrigeration is recommended but freezers should be avoided. When refrigerated, the nb-4l battery should be placed in a plastic bag to protect against condensation.
- Do not fully charge lithium and nickel-based batteries before storage. Keep them partially charged and apply a full charge before use. Store lithium-ion at about 40% state-of-charge (3.75-3.80V/cell open terminal). Lead-acid batteries must be stored fully charged.

How can I trickle charge a marine battery using low voltage phone line DC current?
I'm in OH without power (and will be for some time) and this is one of a few things I'd like to know about to deal with it.
I want to suck power from a phone line and slowly use it to build charge in a large battery.
Thanks for the info. I was interested in a "power over ethernet lite". I suppose you can only push it so far.
Maybe it is time to buy a generator and a specialized deep cycle battery.
You would need a 48 volt battery, or use resistors to reduce the voltage at the battery. The phone line resistance will limit the available current, probably to a point too low to charge the battery. If you use a 12 volt battery, the required additional resistance will result in close to zero charging current.
You can estimate the phone line resistance to be around 300 ohms. It is seldom more. Even drawing 10 or 20 milliamps will reduce the voltage to below charging voltage. Looks like a lost cause.
