Practice TIG welding?
What welds could i preform to Enhance my welding with Gas Tungsten arc welding? I am using 2% tungsten and got many types of steel any tips?
I have to make some assumptions here...the biggest is that you are using scratch start. I would sharpen the tungsten down to a needle point with the lines running down to the tip, then slightly dull the tip making it flat on the end (like 1/32") this will give you a stronger tip for scratching. Next would be to use a 3/32" 2% thoriated tungsten with a #5 or #6 nozzle. Finally use a T-joint so that you can rest the nozzle on the steel while you get used to the process, once you get used to T-joints, switch to a Lap then a Butt...Good Luck, any questions email me.
