How best to heat 650sq feet room, current house heat not available here, well insulated, cement, old garage.?
Ok, details. 650sqft, 25 x 26 x 9. cement floor as it is a converted garage. With insulated attic. Rest of the house is forced hot water from a oil furnace. cost of copper to run water to heat the new room would be .. unreasonable.. Well insulated, located in North Eastern USA so it does get kinda cold. attic. Any suggestions?
With electric.
The cost of the heater is trivial compared to the fuel cost. The house probably uses oil for a reason. It may be your cheapest choice. Propane and electric are probably your only other choices, right? I would check the relative cost of all three fuels in your area, then choose a heater that runs for the cheapest fuel per BTU of heat. If you do go with an oil space heater or small furnace, you could probably use the existing oil tank and just run copper tubing to the new room cheaper than investing in a new oil tank.
