Blazer GB2001 Self-Igniting Butane Micro-Torch List Price: $79.95 Sale Price: $49.75 |
|
The GB2001, Blazer’s original butane refillable micro torch, is a time-tested, gas torch that creates a precise flame emitting from a nozzle head, allowing direct heat application to an object. It is commonly used for detailed purposes such as brazing, plumbing, soldering, jewelry making, culinary, automotive and dental and lab applications. The GB2001 has a rubber, diamond-shaped, outer body finish, for safe grip and ease of use. It features a gas flow adjustment lever to allow for ease of flame heat and precision change. Its torch flame is adjustable from yellow to more precise and hot blue flame. The torch comes with an attachable, tabletop stand for hands-free work. It offers a long burn time, compared to some other Blazer micro torch products. The torch houses a piezoelectric ignition system, which is based on a pressurized molecular reaction, and requires no electric connection. Piezoelectric energy occurs when the trigger is activated, releasing a small, spring-loaded internal hammer that strikes a crystal, producing a spark and resulting in gas flame ignition. With a maximum flame temperature of 2,500 degrees F, the GB2001 has a continuous burn time of approximately 1.5 to 2.0 hours, at maximum fuel volume, and has a 26-gram gas capacity. The torch head has a 90-degree fixed angle, and its flame range is 0.5 to 1.25 inches. It has a safety component that offers manual lock of the ignition, when not in use. It measures 6.0 (l) x 3.0 (w) x 2.5 (d) inches, weighs 6.8 ounces and has a black body finish. This product is intended strictly for use in professional and industrial environments. In accordance with federal regulations, home use of this product is prohibited. Since 1985, Blazer Products has created an array of professional and industrial tools and equipment. Located in Farmingdale, NY, the company manufactures a variety of micro torches and ultrasonic cleaners. Blazer Products is known worldwide for its original micro torch products. The GB2001 torch operates with a standard butane canister (sold separately). |
Here are some more information for Welder Heat:

Welding cast iron calls for some special procedure. It is a challenging task and there can be no two opinions about that. Cast iron, unlike most other steels, has much greater carbon content at 2 to 4 percent. This causes most cast iron to be brittle making it difficult to weld. If the following procedure is followed, cast iron can be welded with relative ease:
Use either cooling or heating while welding cast iron as it is important to keep casting iron out of the 150- to 500-degree F range. Preheating is widely preferred, but there are times when cooling are also done. But stick to either cooling or heating and do not attempt to change in the middle of a weld.
Though preheating the cast ironing part should suffice, it is preferable to preheat the entire casting slowly and uniformly in the 500- to 1,200-degree F range. Be very careful to heat within the stated range as overheating may cause iron to crack. The casting should get hot just to the extent you can to touch it comfortably with your bare hand. If need be, make short welds intermittently to avoid overheating.
Occurrences of small cracks when welding cast ironing, is inevitable. You can apply some sealing compound to prevent leakages. If there are major cracks you must repair with studding. Studding is a complex process calling for a lot of skills. The first step is to drill and tap holes on the surface that has beveled. The next step is to put in steel studs and the studs should come out 5 to 6 mm above the surface and the studs should then be welded to remain in place.
Preheated welding can be easily done - particularly for small and manageable objects. While welding the cast iron without preheating, it is extremely essential the operator has good control over the welding gun and make the welds as small as possible.
Welding cast iron with an arc welder calls for different procedure. As a matter of fact, persons capable of welding cast iron with arc welder are few in number and there is a great demand for such skilled persons.
You may have to either purchase or hire a SMAW (shielded metal arc welding or stick electrode) welder depending how often you do cast ironing welding with arc welder. Plug your welder into a 220V outlet and then plug in your ground cord and welder electrode holder cord into the welder. Please know that to weld cast iron, you need a special electrode. You may buy a 770 stick electrode to weld cast iron.
First of all, clean the surface area to be welded with a wire brush. Clamp the grounding clamp cord from the welder onto the piece of cast iron that has to be welded. Thereafter, place an electrode into the welder electrode holder and position the electrode near where the weld has to begin.
Continue to tap the electrode on the cast ironing till an arc is created and begin to weave the electrode stick from side to side. Make it a point to keep the arc slightly away from the piece of steel you are welding. Wait for a few minutes for the weld to cool off gradually. Use the welding hammer to chip off the slag from the top of the weld.

Plastic Repair
PLASTIC REPAIR
There many ways to repair plastic. There is epoxy, plastic welding, and glue.
Plastic adhesive- glue made for plastic. I haven't had any luck with this. Had problems with it sticking to some types of plastics.
Epoxy repair- This is the cheapest way to repair plastic, but will not work with all plastic. In time will fade or discolor and chip. Had problems with it sticking to some types of plastics.
Plastic welder- Many people have never heard of plastic welding. But this is probably the best to use with all plastic, but will have to know what kind of plastic it is. So that you can use the right filler rod (welding rod) .Now with plastic welding you have some choices here. Airless, Hot air, ultrasonic. The plastic welder will pay for it's self in 1 or 2 uses. Here are your options when looking for plastic welders.
· Hot air plastic welder- with this type of plastic welder. The unit will have to have an air source. There are 2 choices for this type of welder.
1. A hot air plastic welder with its own air source. Some type of blower in the unit to force hot air out the tip. Some of these welders have a temperature control unit on them.
2. A hot air plastic welder with a hose. These kind you will need to purchase a compressor with a regulator. This plastic welder you can control the air pressure with the regulator. You should use around 3 to 4 lbs. or less of pressure when welding with it.
With these kind of plastic welders. You have to learn how to heat both the base material and the filler rod at the same time without burning or discoloring of both. It will take time to learn how to use this plastic welder.
· Airless plastic welder- These is probably the easiest plastic welder to use and can repair virtually any plastic.
You will not have to have an air source with these welders. There is very little learning curve with this type of plastic welder. It's not like metal welding at all. You heat the plastic base material and filler rod and the 2 join together forming a bond sometimes stronger than the original plastic item.
1. Airless plastic welder without a temperature control: These are easier to use than any of the above, but do have its limits. You have no control over the heat. Great for ATV & MOTORCYCLE fender's, Kayak's and Canoe's.
2. Airless plastic welder with temperature control: With this unit the heat can be controlled. This will allow the user to plastic weld many different types of plastics. ATV & MOTORCYCLE fenders and other plastic parts, Kayak's and Canoe's, Automotive plastic's, house hold plastic's and many other plastic item's in and outside of the house.
· Ultrasonic plastic welder- These plastic welder are probably the best you can buy, but the price tag is very high on these types of welders. So usually bought by businesses.
Thank you

What jobs use chemistry?
I am a chemistry teacher and want to compile a list of jobs and careers that use chemistry. Of course, there are the general med fields and sci fields that use it, but I would like your input in listing careers that people usually don't correlate with the subject.
Example: hair stylists (use hair products, chemicals, deal with heat thresholds), welders (heat thresholds, use of chemicals, gases), etc. Please help me create a list - my goal is 101 jobs that use chemistry!
