Hot Max 24077 Size 00 00-W-1, Medium Duty Victor Style Gas Heating Tip/Nozzle for Oxy-Acetylene List Price: $15.29 Sale Price: $15.29 |
|
Hot Max Victor Style gas heating tip/nozzle is always a nice option for anyone with an oxy-acetylene cutting torch. It can be used for most anything from heating up bolts for loosening to beating or bending flat steel. Some people try to make a cutting tip do the job of a heating tip but most generally there is not enough heat. Of course there is always the risk of blowing right through the metal with the oxygen from your cutting tip. For safety, efficiency, and many other reasons, we always recommend using the right tool for the job. Most of the heating tips that are available for cutting torches are made for use with acetylene gas. |
Here are some more information for Welding Tips:

Even though there are some pretty big differences between structural welding and pipe welding certification tests, there are also some common denominators. Here are a few tips that apply to both pipe welding tests as well as structural plate tests.
- It is never a bad idea to call the test supervisor before your test date to get all the details possible.
- Ask questions before the test begins so that you will be clear on the expectations of the test supervisor
- get permission first, but try to get a piece of scrap metal to weld on so that you can get used to the equipment and to set the welding machine before you light up on the real deal.
- keep all the arc strikes in the weld so that they will be covered by the weld. No welding codes allow arc strikes outside the weld.
- keep grinding marks and chipping hammer marks confined to the beveled groove area . leaving chipping hammer pecks all over the place is like tattooing the word "Hack" on your forehead
- dont leave any slag on the finished product...file and brush, file and brush
- spread your stops and starts around so that they are lumped in the same area
- a little soapstone followed by a good power brushing makes for a weld that shines like new money
If you have never taken a welding certification test before, you may not realize what is at stake. Usually , getting the job or not getting the job completely depends on your ability to pass the test. No pressure...So be prepared to be a little nervous. Because like it or not, In the back of your mind you will think about breaking the bad news to your wife or girlfriend if you fail.
You are gonna be a little nervous. Be ready for it. Even after over 30 years of welding, I still get nervous.
The best way to not be nervous is to be practiced up for the test. If you called the super beforehand and have practiced the exact test you will be taking, your chances of passing are much better and your brain will know it.
Good luck Welder.

HOW TO PLASTIC WELD A MOWER HOOD
HOW TO PLASTIC WELD A MOWER HOOD
Item being welded is a John Deere 445 mower hood
· Cost of new hood $405 with out tax.
· Cost of material to fix hood less than $15 with tax.
· I saved $390 using the plastic welder
· I used the mini-weld model 6 plastic welder
1. Set up work area. No combustibles near plastic welder. Well ventilated area. Use caution when using the welder it is hot and can burn you.Plug in the welder and set the heat level to preheat. Put the welder in the stand that comes with kit.
2. Take hood off mower.
3. Clean plastic parts with soap and water.
4. Put the plastic parts together using tape to hold in place until welded.
5. Check the part for a symbol (to find out what kind of plastic I was working with). Set the heat level on welder matching the plastic I was welding.
6. Working on the back side first. I started out making a v-groove where the break was. Tip: I used the side of the flat welding tip.
7. Now I put the welding rod in the v-groove and apply the welder (heat) to the area. Melt the base material and the rod together. Don’t work on any more than 2 inches at a time. TIP: Let your heat do the work for you.
8. When you’re done with the back side. Now start on the front side doing the same steps as above.
9. When finished welding. On the front you should have a slight mound where the break was at.
10. Now sand the weld down using rough sand paper. Then when almost flat go to a fine sand paper and smooth it out. Clean the hood.
11. Paint the hood .It may take more than 1 coat. Check paint for details on drying times.
Sorry I forgot to grab my camera and take pictures for you.
THANK YOU

Muffler versus exhaust tips question! Only open to experienced people.?
Ok, here's the deal. I'm looking for something that will make my Jetta sound a lot (more) louder. My dad said all I need is exhaust tips welded on to my muffler, because thats what he did to his Firebird. After days of research, I ran into stuff like cat back systems. Ok, all I want is a louder/deeper/throatier sound pouring out of my car, so what the heck are my options?
If I get exhaust tips, will that make my car louder, or do I need to get a performance muffler? I'm getting my stuff from Magnaflow, if that's helpful.
I DO NOT want the cat back exhaust system right now.....I'm saving my money for other things...cat backs cost like $700 damn dollars...ha..yeah right....
Anyway, only people that know what they're talking about answer my questions! Thanks.
Get yourself a nice performance muffler from borla, magnaflow, or aero. Don't get the cheap junky Fart Cans that a lot of the honda guys run. get something with quality and then get a nice tip for it and it will sound and look good, as well as make a little more power.
