In scripture we learn the words from our Lord, 'Blessed are the righteous at heart for they shall see God.' We only have to look towards the prophets, the disciples and apostles to see the rewards of the righteous at heart. God talked to Moses directly. God spoke to Elijah, Elisha, Ezekiel and many more of the prophets blessing them with revelations and dreams. Christ chose his disciples and opened scripture to them that had been hidden for centuries. He promised them places in his kingdom to rule over the tribes of Israel. 3. Feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace
Scripture teaches us that our Lord and savior is also the King of Salem. This is interpreted as the King of Peace. If we shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace we are walking in Christ footsteps and abiding by God's laws. Christ taught us to turn the other cheek if slapped and if anyone took our hat we should offer him our coats as well. We do this with the power of the King of Peace and that is our Lord.
4. Shield of faith
Scripture teaches us that faith is the measurement of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. In scripture our Lord teaches us that if our faith measured up to a grain of corn we can move mountains. With faith we can turn the negative into positive. We can defend ourselves against doubt, envy and many more of the fiery darts aimed at us from the wicked one. Our shield of faith is the evidence that God works with us and us in him. The spirit cannot be seen but through faith it is.
5. Helmet of salvation
Proof of salvation comes from our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. He was with us even before the prophets talked of his coming. He lived with us and died for our sins and as scripture teaches us was resurrected to sit on the right hand of God. This is written in the Old Testament by David in the book of Psalms and again in the New Testament. What is important to note here is that we know that there is a destiny in the kingdom of God. Our long suffering on earth has a place of rest. A helmet of salvation is a helmet of hope and belief that no matter what happens to us in this life there is another of rest.
6. Sword of the spirit
Scripture teaches us of a two edged sword that proceeds from our Lords mouth in the end of time when he comes again to deliver punishment to those who have disobeyed the word of God. Our Lord also mentions to us that he is this two edged sword that separates us from our love for the things of this world to have a love of God first. There are times in our lives when we shall face emotional blackmail, when we shall be overwhelmed by our lust and desires for the things of this world. It is the sword of the spirit that gives us perspective and overcomes these temptations.
7. Prayer
Scripture also teaches us not to be careful of anything but in everything put it in prayer and supplication before God. Prayer is our strength and belief that despite the little we may know God is in control of our shortcomings. God is our provider and our source for times of distress. Prayer allows us to persevere with the knowledge that it has been answered and our requests would be given to us in time.
